This large kitchen in a converted schoolhouse needed an unusual approach. The owners wanted an eclectic look – using a diverse range of styles, shapes, sizes, colours and finishes. The final result speaks for itself – an amazing, quirky and edgy design. From the black sink unit with its ornate mouldings to the oak and beech butcher’s block, from the blue and cream solid wood cupboards with a mix of granite and wooden worktops to the more subtle free-standing furniture in the utility. View of the whole kitchen. The island is painted in Valspar Merlin and has an oak worktop with an antiqued brass inlay. The stools are also oak. The base cabinetry is painted in Farrow & Ball Ammonite. The splashback behind the Aga cooker is also antiqued brass. The hanging pendant lights are vintage clear glass, chrome and brass. Bespoke solid ash cabinetry with oak internals, dovetail drawers and subtle decorative beaded door detail – handpainted in Light Grey with Lava on the island. The cabinetry has been designed to look as though it’s part of the room’s architecture with the ceiling coving around the top of the cabinets to make it look as though the kitchen has always been there. A bespoke, handmade Shaker style kitchen with ‘in-frame’ mortice and tennon jointed doors hung with traditional burnished brass butt hinges. This luxurious kitchen features Oak dovetailed and polished drawer boxes on soft-close concealed runners and rigid Birch plywood carcasses. All units have been factory painted in Basalt Blue from Little Greene Paint & Paper, to complement the worktops in Silestone Quartz Blanco Zeus extreme.
