Small contemporary back garden in London with decking.

The front garden landscape design is deliberately elegant and restrained so as not to compete with the traditional Victorian architecture of this Darling Point home. Large established trees complement the scale of the home and provide a beautiful dappled light in the warm summer months. The lush green planting is selected to flourish in the shaded conditions. The contemporary renovation of the rear of the house has lead a modern, fresh and bold selection of pots and plants for the internal courtyard. Pleached Bamboo provides privacy screening and a soft green backdrop to the private entertaining area. Contemporary white furniture and potted planting create layers of greenery that further soften and add interest when viewed from internal living areas.

Aralia’s innovative approach to garden design runs through all of our projects including those of a more traditional nature. We specialise in beautiful, traditional gardens appealing to those with a more classical approach to garden design. Though better known for our Roof top Terraces; we pride ourselves on our completion of designs for country houses including Victorian Townhouses, Grade II listed homes, and rural country cottages. Both commercially and residential, we aim to create unique and extraordinary spaces that are diverse in their uses. Aralia aim to break our designs free from the cliché of ‘traditional being boring’, and instead aim to create new and exciting landscapes. From entertaining spaces, to classical family hubs; Aralia transforms clients’ gardens and outdoor spaces. Aralia creates gardens with a traditional feel via our choice of materials, style and planting. We always take on board the architecture, surrounding landscape, and local aesthetic to make sure our designs partner well with all existing components. We are proud to have succeeded in our ventures into traditional garden designs, with Aralia having won many awards for our rural gardens, including the 2013 BALI Landscape Design Excellence Award (Little Eden), and the 2014, SGD Finalist for Best Small Residential Garden (Regents Park House).

This garden was created for a modern family in Cambridgeshire who wanted a garden where they could relax and entertain in with their young family and friends. The clients wanted a contemporary design, all year round colour and interest within the garden. The clients requested a large lawn and evergreen pleached screening which was installed to create extra privacy from surrounding neighbours. This contemporary garden was designed to work in harmony with the recently developed suburban home in the heart of St Neots. Malus 'Everest' trees add height and interest while plants such as Hydrangeas, Anemone 'Honorine Jobert' and Geraniums illuminate the space. Grasses and ferns add texture and movement to the design while softening hard landscaped areas created for entertaining and relaxation. The photo's for this project have been taken at the garden's early stages and we can't wait to see this project mature in the future.
