Laddove le altezze lo permettono, la presenza di un tetto in cemento non deve rappresentare una rinuncia ad avere un tetto in legno. La soluzione consiste nel realizzare un "controsoffitto" come quello proposto nell'immagine.

This traditional farmhouse with orchard garden had a simple but effective transformation with materials that were in keeping with the building and rustic village setting. Beautiful natural stone paving with a central decorative carpet using stone pavers provides the perfect seating area near the house from which to sit and enjoy the view. This stone carpet is repeated further down the garden providing an intimate seating area away from the house. The curve of the path echoes the gnarled and twisted apple trees that lean and stretch their trunk and branches, with gently curved planting beds softening the edges of the path. Although simple the design is in sympathy with the surrounding lawned orchard and gives way to the countryside views beyond the hedged garden.

Having worked ten years in hospitality, I understand the challenges of restaurant operation and how smart interior design can make a huge difference in overcoming them. This once country cottage café needed a facelift to bring it into the modern day but we honoured its already beautiful features by stripping back the lack lustre walls to expose the original brick work and constructing dark paneling to contrast. The rustic bar was made out of 100 year old floorboards and the shelves and lighting fixtures were created using hand-soldered scaffold pipe for an industrial edge. The old front of house bar was repurposed to make bespoke banquet seating with storage, turning the high traffic hallway area from an avoid zone for couples to an enviable space for groups.
