Hobsons Choice

We bought a new build property ‘off plan’ in 2018 but chose to have a bulthaup kitchen fitted by Hobsons Choice rather than the one supplied by the developer. This turned out to be a very good decision. During a problematic two year build the service we received from Natasha and Richard was exceptional. They had to contend with design changes to the building, site issues caused by the developer and finally having to carry out the main installation work during lockdown. In spite of all these issues the final result is stunning and we couldn’t be happier with our kitchen. Natasha, Richard and their colleagues at Hobsons Choice get 10/10 from us and we recommend them without hesitation.

We were amazed at how much extra space you created. Since September we have been in Spain so I am looking forward to baking on my return shortly. It was so great that you put the kitchen in so meticulously in our absence whilst we were locked down in Spain earlier in the year. We wouldn't normally trust an installation without being present to pick up snags along the way. Our complete trust in yourselves was repaid in full. I am wondering whether we should now carry on around the corner into my office space.

Great people to work with. Phil brought a lot to the party with an excellent eye. The Bulthaup product is the best of German. Beautifully made and a joy to live with. The Hobsons Choice installation was excellent. We have achieved a stunning kitchen which has achieved exactly what we hoped for.

We recommend Hobson's Choice, and Phil Harflett, without reservation. Phil carefully supported us as we worked through the many decisions required in kitchen planning. He has a gentle, professional and very courteous style which made it easy to design the kitchen with him. He didn't impose his view or opinion, instead always responding to what we wanted while giving honest feedback, with explanations/examples, if something we were thinking about wouldn't work so well. The quality (in construction and appearance) of the kitchen is very high. Our builders fitted it and said they rarely install units that are so well made, with such sensible installation processes. We did have a problem with one door; the factory had sent the incorrect finish on one panel. Mark, a Hobson's Choice fitter, came quickly to resolve that. He was great - another very courteous professional. We have been really pleased with the support and service we received, and with the kitchen. We have had it for over a year now and don't regret any aspect of it because it was so carefully planned by Phil. It looks as good as when it was first fitted. Of course it is a little more expensive than kitchens from some well-known large companies, but 1. the extra cost wasn't as large as we thought it would be 2. there is no doubt you get what you pay for, both in service and quality. Very professional from the start, good communication throughout, responsive and the level of personal service was outstanding. All the trades subcontracted for the project were of a high standard, tidied up at the end of each day and were very considerate. Phil and the team at Hobson's Choice did an exceptional job on our family bathroom. The deign phase was excellent and Phil provided and level of precision and innovation to the design that we just did not see with other companies. He gave us creative and practical advice that we would not have thought of, and which made the final design absolutely perfect. The build was also exceptionally well executed, and when a few unforeseen problems arose with pipework, the guys on site were able to offer solutions on the spot and ensure the job moved forward. Overall very impressed.

It's two years since Hobson's Choice fitted our Bulthaup kitchen so we have had time to reflect on how happy we have been with the 'hardware'. It is beautifully made and is continually enjoyable to use. All the materials, laminates, wood, metal are of the highest quality. In order to fit something of this calibre you need to employ good design and high quality fitting. The design phases are impressively thorough with the appropriate amount of guidance given by the project coordinator appointed to your job. When this is signed-off the fitters take over and install with a care and sensitivity I haven't experienced from any other tradesmen. We are delighted with the end result. In fact, we're so delighted with the kitchen that we have now asked Hobson's Choice to undertake the redesign and fitting of our two bathrooms and we're very pleased to see the same attitude and approach being taken to this project. If you ever need confirmation of the detailed preparation and care undertaken by Hobson's Choice just ask to see one of their Project Folders. This document is prepared by the designer for each and every job for the guidance of the fitters. It is two inches thick and covers absolutely every minor detail imaginable. This document is enormously impressive.

hobsons|choice was recommended to me by a trusted friend of mine. After my first meeting with the team and a look around their impressive showroom I was assured my project was in the right hands. In fact I felt no further need to continue searching for other options. When we visited the Bath showroom my wife was immediately taken by the kitchen that was on display and the decision to use them for our project was an easy one. The service provided by Richard Keyes, Design Consultant, met all of our expectations. He used high quality CAD software which was both realistic and capable of being rapidly updated thereby enabling us to understand the impact of suggested changes. We were left with the impression that the process could take as long as we needed to be comfortable with the design and nothing was too much trouble. Richard made suggestions but also listened carefully and reacted to our input. The installation team worked in a careful and clean manner and were always polite and happy to answer any questions/concerns that we raised. In simple terms we received exactly what we expected and there were no unpleasant surprises
