ED Gardens

Wanting to renovate our garden but not knowing where to start or how to design it we decided to look for some help and found ED gardens. Katrina came round for a consultation, coming up with a design that not only did we love but solved issues and was budget friendly. The consultation really helped us realise what can be done. Would highly recommend !

Wanting to give our business to a local firm we searched online for garden designers in Leigh on sea. The search came up with ED Gardens. From the moment we met Katrina we knew she was on our wavelength. As keen amateur gardeners we knew what we wanted and it only took our initial meeting for Katrina to come up with a design that reflected our needs. The build started a few months later and whilst the project took longer than originally anticipated you couldn't fault Dominic and Aaron ( ED's building team) for their efforts over the eight weeks. They consulted us on even the smallest matters and also came up with suggestions when we were short of ideas. It really was a team effort within Katrina's original design. It should be said that Matt was always there in the background if needed. He made things happen in terms of materials, technical support etc. His perseverance in managing to get hold of a short length of missing drain cover is admirable!! The finished build is brilliant and after I had completed the planting a year on, it really is beginning to look good. Having said that, I would have felt confident to leave the planting to ED if I was so inclined. As a final comment , I should say that the garden has had many admiring comments both from passing neighbours and our knowledgeable gardening friends. A marvellous job. We honestly had no idea where to start with our garden, but Katrina came up with so many wonderful ideas and turned our plain garden into something truly special. She designed everything with our family in mind, an outdoor kitchen, a relaxed dining area, allotment planters for growing food together, and even a water feature. She took all our vague thoughts and turned them into a seamless, beautiful design that suits how we live and spend time together. Earth Designs did a wonderful job completely transforming our front and back gardens. Kat the designer was really easy to get along with which helped to collectively get to the crux of the things that mattered most to us (we didn't go into the process really knowing fully ourselves). The result was 2 designs, for the front & back, that we never could have dreamt up ourselves. Bold and different, but still practical. We don't know anyone else with a design like ours, which makes us happy to feel it's unique. We love the result, as do our family and friends, especially when hosting BBQ's in the amazing outdoor kitchen and dining spaces. Highly recommend their design services.

I now have a wonderful stylish garden that I could not have imagined without Kat’s help. Her design cleverly made use of railway sleepers I had already, creating a lovely pergola over the central patio. The build team were super friendly and helpful and brought the project in on budget. You can see their attention to detail everywhere from the arrangement of the flower beds to the well-designed stepped pathways. I’m looking furred to seeing how the planting grows out and I expect I will get many years of pleasure from my new garden. I definitely recommend going through this process

We recently moved to a new build. The garden has some complex issues e.g facing north east plus a gabion wall. We didn't know how or where to begin, just didn't want to end up with a mish mash of things we were starting to bring in. We were watching Your Garden Made Perfect on television and saw a garden by Katrina Kieffer-Wells that just stopped us in our tracks and got us really excited. We contacted Katrina and set up a 2 hour online appointment via Zoom as we were miles away. We explained the overall feeling we wanted from the garden and that we wanted water included but were really conscious to give her a free hand and unrestricted design brief. We didn't see the point of hiring an expert and then telling them what to do, we wanted to see Katrina's design and to let her imagination work its magic! Katrina got to work whilst we watched as our new garden concept was sketched out in front of us. She explained every detail to us and asked us questions until we had a first sketch and layout ideas. It was completely beyond our wildest dreams. My husband stood up immediately to look at the garden outside and visualise the design, we could see it so clearly now. We would never have thought of anything like it ourselves. It's a fairly small garden and you would think there were only so many things you could do but Katrina thought outside the box and we didn't change a single detail. We would highly recommend Katrina - she is AMAZING and your garden will be too.

After following Earth designs for a while, I wanted a garden just like their photos. Stylish with lots of green and maintenance free. When I discovered that I could have a remote consult, I contacted Katrina and we set a date. I couldn’t be more happy with the outcome! As if she knew me and what I would like, she draw the perfect plan for me! I can’t wait for summer 2024

Would recommend their garden design service but would not advise anyone to hire Earth Designs to landscape their garden. They told us that they do one job at a time but our tiny project took months to complete with terrible communication so we never knew when they were going to arrive. Damage to bi-fold doors. The 'floor protection' they put down was totally inadequate so our floorboards have been scuffed. They don't seem to have a permanent team of labourers so random people turned up on a couple of occasions and the mess they left was awful (bathroom/kitchen etc) Some of the plants were dead / decaying when they were put in the ground. The head gardener just didnt seem interested in the job at all and its with a heavy heart that we leave this review but we just dont feel that we were listened to at all.

Sadly I cannot recommend Earth Designs. Most reviews focus on the design part with Katrina. But it went downhill once the design was agreed. The work started late - various excuses were given - and once started what was supposed to take 4 weeks took 3 months. (unfinished). During that time the labourers managed to damage my front door, the back window, the walls inside the house, badly damaged my floorboards because of lack of protection and broke three mugs (never replaced). The toilets were regularly left in a state. One day they left the back door opened so a fox got in the house overnight. The chief labourer even flirted with me inappropriately one evening (he was eventually removed from the project though not for that reason). They had promised their insurance would contact me - I’m still waiting. Within weeks the fences started to warp very badly. They were supposed to replace them - I’m still waiting. I hired another gardener to look after the garden and she has found rubble and plastic in the soil (soil they had brought) - no wonder some plants died within weeks. The communication was poor throughout and there has been no attempt to compensate or to finish the job properly. Avoid this company.

I greatly enjoyed my initial consultation with Kat. Although I wasn’t quite sure about what exactly we wanted in the garden, Kat was able to quickly put together a stunning design, something I would never have thought of. I would highly recommend speaking to Kat if your garden needs a refresh or you feel stuck with your current lay out.

I cannot recommend Earth Designs enough! Having moved to a new build home I wanted to create a new garden. Katrina was brilliant. I had a 2 hour online consultation via zoom and came away from the session feeling very excited about the design that had Katrina created. She completely understood the look I want to create and gave lots of advice and good ideas. Within two hours she had created an amazing concept drawing for me to make reality. The whole process was extremely pleasant and professional.

After receiving a disappointing design from somewhere recommended, I found Katrina through Pinterest. From the start, she was flexible and approachable. We gave Katrina our wish list for the garden and despite it not being a huge plot, she somehow managed to incorporate everything we asked for. Her visit was inspiring and having Katrina create a concept for our garden was a truly valuable experience. We would not hesitate to recommend her.
