John Wilson Design

I appointed John Wilson Design to help and advise with the total re-modelling of my lower ground flat in Camberwell, South London. I knew of John’s work and had seen first hand the calm quality of his design and the attention to detail he brings to a project. The proposals involved the construction of a new extension to the rear and a total flip of the internal rooms so that the kitchen moved into the new extension and the bedroom to the front. This created a large open plan central living room with the kitchen and dining area looking out on to the long garden. This was a total reconstruction project which took several months to complete . John guided me through the whole process from obtaining the building permits to the appointments of contractors and specialist suppliers. The new interior absolutely makes the most of the space available and John has created a very practical, pleasurable and enjoyable living space with fantastic choices for colours and finishes. I have really appreciated the calmness and order of the space during the long months of lockdown.

I enlisted the services of John Wilson Design to assist me with the re-modelling of a traditional Altbau apartment in Berlin to create a contemporary open plan living space. In order to achieve the look and feel I wanted John suggested a radical overhaul of the entire space which required some major structural alterations. All through this process John took the lead and advised on the various options for design of the kitchen, bathroom and all the associated finishes. At John's suggestion we decided to incorporate some key architectural salvage materials to add historical and Architectural interest. The magnificent tall doors and vintage floor tiles were found in a Berlin Salvage yard. The completed project is now 5 years on and looking as good as new , the quality of the materials used just and the style are just timeless. It was a pleasure to work with and be inspired by John’s enthusiasm and his vision.

From initial drawings, colour advice and tile choice through to visits during the works to ensure the detail of the design were carried through, John’s involvement was instrumental in giving me the confidence to take my shower room through to completion.
