I did a gut kitchen remodel when I first moved into my home over 30 years ago, and so I was loath to admit that it was due for an update. While I dreaded the prospect (the cost, the stress, the dust EVERYWHERE!), the accumulating cost of repairs got to the point where I knew I had to bite the bullet on a full reno. When researching local designers, my key goal was to find someone with the skill to design a modern functional kitchen while honoring the architecture of my 1920s Spanish Revival home. I hired Devon and Jess based on the strength of a kitchen remodel they designed for a 1910s Craftsman that struck the prefect balance between modern function and historic charm. They took my must-haves and challenges, and gave me a kitchen that is exactly what I asked for, while also something I never could have imagined on my own. “It is a challenge to write a review of such excellence in every phase and detail without sounding hyperbolic or seeming to over-praise but indeed every piece of this house other than the original floorplan is custom designed from the floors to the walls to the architecture inside. Even the books on the tables, decorations, and plants were either their choice of or by our approval and agreement with them. The house was built from a dirt lot to the finished product in this project. JAC Interiors principals Andrea, Christine, and Tim were with us in every step of building, furnishing, and decorating our Home. We moved from a large home in Los Angeles and did not take one piece of furniture. We took a few favorite items and a couple of small pieces of art. Most importantly, they listened to us and built us the house we wanted. They directed us to great choices but it was always about them hearing what we loved. They showed great respect for the budget and kept us updated along the way. The results are truly stunning. Every seat or table or sofa or bed is comfortable as well as beautiful. We moved in with sheets on the bed, art on the walls, and our toothbrushes in hand. It was so complete that we had house guests stay only 3 days after we moved in. These amateur photos do not do the project justice. The house is going to be professionally photographed by a photographer who wishes to submit this project for publication. We are considering the publication part, but I will add some professional photos after the shoot if we are allowed. Oh. ...one more thing. They are delightful people who showed genuine care and concern for us. I will hope to have them as our guests for dinner at the house.”
