We met with Central Lofts’ surveyor back in October 2020, and Huw explained the process of a loft conversion in depth. He shared various layout ideas with us and drew 2 different plans directly on site, which allowed us to look at how we can use the loft space to the full potential.
Once we agreed to proceed, their architect gave us a detailed drawings and did all the work to submit the plans etc to the planning portal, which then meant that we had to wait for 2 months before we received planning permission to start the project.
Renatas kept us updated on the progress on a regular basis once building work commenced. The builders were always open to discussing their current and upcoming work with us and involved us in the decision making as well during the conversion. They started promptly at 8am in the morning, and almost never missed a date on site, often working Saturday shifts as well. Any small changes (window size etc) were always easy to discuss with Renatas and the team.
Overall we had a great experience, the end result looks as we had wished for and we now have a lot more space to use for ourselves, incl. a new ensuite shower room. The team at Central Lofts are great to work with, and we would certainly recommend them further.

Dormer loft conversion with en suite
From the initial meeting discussing what i would like i could not be happier. Nothing seemed too much and nothing seemed impossible. For such a big project for me and my family, Central Lofts put us at ease with honest answers to all our questions and worries. David was helpful and was always available via phone to answer questions we had.
Renatas who was our contracts manager was always helpful and very responsive to questions during the project. No matter what time of the day, i felt i could message him or call and ask any necessary questions we had.
As for the works, from day 1 everything went smooth. All the builders for each team were pleasant, clean and very helpful in building a conversion suited to us. During the build they would ask us what would be better as any job, the initial plans may not be what is suited to us. I could not be happier. The work itself was 5 star. No corners were cut which put us at ease in trusting Central lofts.
The finished product was amazing and i have zero regrets. A loft conversion is a big job to an average person, but not to central lofts. It seemed effortless although i can assure you it wasn't.
I highly, highly recommend this company and will for sure be using them again.

With a young family of three boys, we desperately needed more space but could not afford to move house. We contacted several loft conversion companies but decided to go with Central Lofts, as although not the cheapest of our quotes, they came highly recommended from our neighbours who had used them.
The first fix team, did a fantastic job with the initial conversion and with minimal disruption to the house (as they entered each day via the scaffolding). They were very skilled and transformed the space from a shell into an amazing room! They were overseen by the first fix supervisor, who regularly visited to check on progress.
The second fix team, involved several tradesmen (plumbers, carpenters, tiler, electricians). Their role, in addition to managing them all, was to overlook the final finishes and make sure we were totally happy with the end product. All the tradesmen worked to a high standard, were approachable and friendly and helped answer any questions we had. Whilst we’ve been impressed with all the staff at Central lofts and their professionalism, a particular mention to the carpenter who was extremely hard working and knowledgeable. His attention to detail was faultless and he ensured the final result of Central Lofts’s work was immaculate. Lastly, communication from head office was excellent and the team was always on hand to answer any queries.
We are so pleased that we chose Central Lofts, the room we now have far exceeds anything we could have imagined.

We hired Central Lofts to convert the loft of our semi-detached house.
The original design they showed us would have collapsed the first floor of our house if they had gone through with it as it was drawn. What was actually built was what the builders decided to do to fix this catastrophic flaw. They didn't consult us about whether it was what we wanted.
The quality of the build was also very poor - I attach photos for you to see for yourself. The roof felt was punctured in a large number of places and we've had to now have the whole roof replaced at our cost as they wouldn't fix it, and there was inadequate ventilation built into the new roof (which is essential to prevent mould) - so we've had to redo all that as well. They were gluing roof tiles in place (when they should be nailed), and were using hanging brackets to support roof beams. The structural beams were fastened onto supports with bolts that were remarked inadequate by building control which we have again had to fix ourselves with new contractors, and the roof beams were constructed from multiple planks of wood, not joined together in a sufficiently sturdy manner to support the roof they put on top. We carry out a measured survey which is the drawn up and sent to the customer for approval.
Once approved this is sent of to structural engineers to calculate the beam and timber sizes which are to be used .
The drawings and structural calculations are then sent of to building control to be checked and approved .
So in conclusion it is impossible to cause a colapse by just drawing a loft! As you can see works are not started before approval.
Once any structural work is carried out an appointment is made with building control and an inspection of the work is carried out and checked before moving on to the next stage .
Before the work commences on site .A pre-commencement meeting is made with the Contracts manager who discussed all aspect of the build , checking drawings and any alteration that are required this is then upload onto our communication App.
So that the customer can view and make any comments or further changes.
In this case the works were in progress and not in the completion stages.
Put simply there were discussion regarding the rear platform having initially been built at 2.4m instead of 1.4m, but because the works were not finished the platform was easily capable of being reduced.
It was specifically confirmed that you wanted the room larger , we confirmed that if we did this it would be at your own risk.
Another couple of m3 were found and once we incorporated this into the build along with your request for extra head height we agreed that we could build it to 1.6m with a higher room .
It followed then after various discussion that you decided you would terminate the contract and not allow us to cover the roof properly and indeed carry out any further work.
I personally spoke with you and our final call when i offered to come to your property to check the work, previously checked by building control ,and also discuss how to move forward was rebuffed
by you and was refused access .
I was concerned as you had previously stated that the build was unsafe and that your children were at risk, which i wanted to confirm as i did not accept or admit too.
Soon after you emailed us to say we were in breech of contract and demanded a full refund of all monies paid to date.
Then you constituted a seven day notice to rectify which was replaced by an explicit statement you wanted a full refund of all monies paid which terminated contract .
Confusing as both wanting rectification and termination at the same time , without allowing any access .
We have instructed solicitors to act on our behalf .
It is sad that a project that could have been completed by now and be lived in has been terminated on a whim without any proper mediation

As a newbie to building work, I am very very pleased I went with Central Lofts. They converted raw attic space into a wonderful bedroom/bathroom space in my flat at the top of a large Victorian building in south London.
All along it was creative and collaborative with their project team, even if there were some heart stopping moments for me when a giant crane arrived turning heads and stopping traffic to drop in the heavier supplies. It was not an easy job, as with many London builds, doing such a project living so close to other flat dwellers, and so the good regular communication between me and their team heads was especially appreciated.
All along I felt I had plenty of choices too in how each space decision was made, from window and skylight positioning and choices to pacing out the best dimensions when there was so much sloping and acute angles to consider. Picasso eat your heart out.
The project all in all took around 9 months, done mostly over the winter, with some time lost for Christmas. It came in just over cost due to a few additional plumbing and electric decisions I made a long the way to further upgrade.
I had four quotes for the work and chose Central Lofts first because they were competitive, and I didn't have a whole lot of money to spend, and two they most understood and took the time to discuss the space, which is not your standard loft area, and to see it take shape and have the trust in the work being done, even when it looked like a bomb site. There was the added issue there were a whole lot of legacy water tanks to deal with but nothing phased the team.
These projects are a massive learning curve for owners and I learned so much and was very involved in decisions. It makes it all the more special when the builders finally leave, and you see how transformational it has been on many levels. My only quibble was in some of the final snagging, which took two or three visits to get it all finished to the standard of the actual build.
I am really delighted with the results. Really am, and they are holding up like new. I would heartily recommend Central Lofts and their team to anyone else looking to add space and value to their flats.

Great team, price and service. We just moved into our new house and was interesting in getting a loft extension but was not sure if we could afford it. The priced was lower than we were expecting and work was started while we was away on holiday without any fuss. Team leader was always quick to reply to email to answer any questions we had. The builders/workmen on site were friendly and worked very hard. Would recommend talking to central lofts and getting a quote for any loft project. Simon

We had really great experience with CLL from start to finish. Huw did a great job during the sales and explained really well how our loft conversion will look (double bedroom and bathroom). What we found extremely useful was a clear overview and expert advice on the whole process and all the prerequisites needed for a smooth running of the project. Huw was really helpful and I felt he really focused on our needs as customers.
Renatas and the building team did a fantastic job in making it all a reality and we absolutely love new space they’ve created for us! The work was really well coordinated, done to a high standard and ahead of the agreed schedule, all of which was very important to us. We felt CLL really listened and understood our requirements. Guys were always on time and cleaned up after themselves each day. They were very polite, courteous and worked extremely hard to get the job done.
Even our neighbours complemented on how efficient, hard working and noise minimal the team were!
We are extremely pleased with our new space and would definitely recommend CLL to anyone.
