We engaged Gavin, Sarah and team to help us build a country home. The project took four years from purchase of land to completion and ended up being bigger and more complex than we ever imagined. Having interviewed several architects in Cornwall, appointing Gavin Woodford was a no brainier. Having worked with several over the years, he shines through his energetic and enthusiastic approach such that it was always a joy to meet with him. Woodford Architecture and Interiors have been appointed to partner with us to demolish our family holiday home and rebuild. Whilst professional, they are a friendly and enthusiastic team who have to date taken us through design stage, we have agreed consultants and they have liaised seamlessly with the planning authorities. When complex issues have arisen, they’ve found solutions. They communicate promptly and thoroughly, are efficient and enthusiastic. They have brought such creativity to the project, which we look forward to completing as soon as possible.

We found Woodford Architecture & Interiors very professional. We asked them to come up with a plan to renovate our 1980's built traditional villa in Portugal. Gavin & Sarah produced an excellent design, incorporating innovative features whilst retaining the integrity of the original structure and sympathetic to the surrounding architecture. Their attention to detail has been impressive, and they have expended considerable effort in liaising with consultants, builders & suppliers. When problems or queries have arisen during the work, they have responded promptly and effectively, including sourcing manufacturers of specialised material in Portugal and Spain. They have been delightful to deal with, as have all the staff at Woodford Architecture, who have uniformly been friendly and helpful.

We did a second storey modern timber clad extension on to a traditional 1930’s cottage in the south hams. Gavin and Oliver were polite, understanding and inspiring. Amazing concept design. Made us think outside the box. We are delighted with the result- it exceeds our expectations. Thank you!

Whilst away from home we made a spur of the moment decision to consider knocking down the kitchen of our listed cottage and rebuilding a larger kitchen which would link into an existing barn. A telephone call to Woodford Architects, whose work I had seen in various magazines, resulted in Gavin making a preliminary visit the same day. He was enthusiastic about our ideas and reassured us that what we envisaged would be possible and likely to gain listed building consent. Daniel Osborne worked with us to come up with a design that met our needs whilst also being likely to secure all the necessary permissions. He incorporated our ideas and made suggestions as to how these might be improved to give a coherence to the overall design. His tact and diplomacy with the Conservation Officer was outstanding. Six months of building works have passed, and we now have a new kitchen that has surpassed our expectations. We chose Woodfords because of their very impressive portfolio of work and Gavin's designs for our tired old bungalow have literally transformed it. Woodfords provided a professional yet freindly service throughout. They listened to our concerns/demands but pushed us to take the leap with some design features which have really made the difference. They liaised with planners and contractors without issue and showed a good attention to detail as they project managed on our behalf. This has been our first ever building project and I wouldn't hesitate to use Woodfords again if the chance ever arises.

Gavin and his team have transformed our house from a ugly 60's house (with lots of potential!) to a New England style home nestled in the Buckinghamshire hills with a real 'Wow' factor. We would not hesitate to recommend Woodford Architects. From the very first site meeting at our Grade 11* listed Devon Longhouse both Gavin Woodford and Dan Osborne gave us their full support seeing the project through to the finish. Our main aim was to extend and reconfigure our small dark kitchen, laundry, cloakroom, back entrance and improve the external flow of our garages, access to the house and thatched barn. Both Gavin and Dan fully understood our objectives and fully appreciated that any new additions had to sit comfortably with an historic family home that has been in the family for many generations. Planning and listed building consent was an extremely complicated and protracted process and without support and encouragement from all the team at Woodfords we might well have given up on the whole process.

We were recommended to Woodford Architecture and used them to orchestrate our applications for retrospective buildings control and planning permission. Throughout the project we found Gavin and his team to be very professional and helpful, using their experience with the local authorities to steer us through the processes required. Their knowledge of both building regulations and planning requirements and their relationship with these departments, and other specialists, was instrument to the success of both applications. During the length of the project they displayed a consistently high level of attention to detail, which was critical to both applications - and we always found them to be cheerful and helpful

Having known Gavin Woodford for some years, we only recently instructed him and his team when we secured a commercial site in Exeter city centre. Gavin is a charismatic chap with infectious enthusiasm and exciting ideas; a refreshing change. His team too are highly professional and proactive in dealing with requests, fast. Whilst no planning application is without delays and problems, Gavin dealt with queries efficiently and diplomatically appeasing concerns of the planners amenably, keeping them “on side”. Putting a team of experts together who are innovative, reliable and trustworthy is half the battle when developing and Woodford Architecture has been a fundamental contributor to our success.

Sarah & Gavin provided our interior decoration service for a holiday home we own in Dartmouth, Devon throughout 2015. The brief was to keep costs to a very strict budget whist maintaining a high-standard of interior design. The process started with a meeting at the property where Sarah & Gavin came and saw the property, discussed what my wife & I wanted to achieve and following on from this, an initial design statement was provided. This was then discussed again with Sarah, decisions were made and from this we decided upon the general plan for each room, from furniture & furnishings, to lighting, to art and curtains/blinds. In short, the whole process was fantastic - Sarah and Siobhan were extremely communicative and helped us with creative solutions to meet the budget whist maintaining a very high standard of finish. We spent a very happy Christmas in the property and were so proud of everything that has been done there, and we look forward to many more happy times in the property. We would highly recommend Woodford Architecture to anyone and would look to use them again in the future if possible.

This enabled us to generally approve designs with little need for amendment. They were considerate of our aspirations, tastes and budget and their expertise and eye for detail on all the little things we'd not even considered meant that the end result exceeded our expectations providing well thought out spaces and design that was evident. From the moment we met Gavin and Sarah, we knew we had found the right people to help us with our renovation project. Right from the off they took time to get to know us as a family, making sure they understood how we wanted to use all the spaces in our house. Since taking on a project in the Dartmoor National Park we have had a very good experience of working with Woodford Architecture & Interiors. Gavin has been excellent at leading us through the process and has come up with a beautiful and sympathetic design solution to what is a complicated property and challenging site. The thorough application he put together and his respectful relationship with the planning authority meant that we had first time success with our application for what is a substantial build and remodelling of the property. His work is thorough and methodical with fantastic attention to detail. We have been regularly updated on progress and are very pleased with the timescales and how well everything has progressed. Woodford Architects provided excellent guidance on the overall concept and architectural detail. There liaison and interaction with the other consultants and the local planning authority was very good. We found them easy and approachable, though also strong enough to ensure the original design principal was maintained, even under pressure from the client.

Woodford Architecture and Design restored and refurbished our 500 year old listed property in a protected national park – a project fraught with planning difficulties. With great professionalism, skill and knowledge they liaised with all the relevant authorities and consultants, and all the various planning permissions and surveys were properly obtained with easy competence. The restoration and refurbishment was done with great sensitivity, skill, taste and attention to detail, and throughout the process we were kept in formed and updated on all details in their characteristically friendly manner. The end result surpassed our expectations.

I am using Woodford Designs of Ashburton for a penthouse in Exerter Devon , they have excelled in the design and with all communications wth the builders. I would recommend them to anyone who only wants the best!

We found Woodford Architecture to be very friendly and approachable and very good at listening to our own ideas. They have all the expertise and knowledge that you require , which alongside genuine enthusiasm and creative thinking, makes them a pleasure to work with. The fact that Woodford are based in an area of great natural beauty adds to their aesthetic sensibilities which is a special bonus.

We instructed Woodford Architecture to assist us in prolonged negotiations with a local developer who had obtained detailed planning consent to convert an office building in the historic centre of Exeter into three floors of appartments with two added penthouses on a new contemporary steel and glass fourth floor. After weeks of discussion we managed to convince the developer to sell us the entire new floor as one large new appartment fitted out entirely to our specification. This entailed some re design of the new structure on a project which was about to start The deal was entirely dependant on Woodford Architecture producing detailed design plans and specifications to very tight deadlines indeed, in the face of a somewhat sceptical contractor. There is no doubt whatsoever that had not Gavin Woodford and his staff worked seven days a week for several weeks we would not have been able to meet our contractual commitments. They are to be congratulated on a remarkable job well done.

We hired Woodford Architecture & Interiors to provide us with initial plans for renovating a 1960's barn conversion and solving specific complex issues. we found them to be prompt, professional, friendly and very imaginative in their design solutions, which included both the broad concept and particular attention to detail. They absorbed and understood what we were looking for in every sense - I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them highly.

A really outstanding business. We used the team at Woodford to help us update an old Rectory we had purchased. Gavin developed the new design for our kitchen, en-suite master bedroom and two other bathrooms. He picked up very cleverly on existing design elements of the original Georgian rectory and incorporated these into a modern but appropriate twist for the new designs. We ended up following all Sarah's proposals for flooring, wall colours, kitchen & bathroom fixtures & fittings. She also developed beautiful ideas for curtains and roman-blinds and was able to recommend a great local company who provided the fabrication (and who did a really good job on this). In summary, their advice and professionalism was wide-ranging, great value-for-money and time-generous. Gavin & Sarah and the team at Woodford absolutely exceeded our expectations.
