As an owner of a large glass kitchen table (octagonal btw) I would not recommend getting one! Especially if you have children. Octagonal shape is great as every guest gets a side, but glass shows fingerprints, even little dust etc. and underneath the table top as well! Harder to clean too. Then you would probably want to get placemats as it's not a nice feeling/sound when you put plates and cutlery on the glass.

Don't just plan for now - plan for celebration lights too - Christmas as an example - and for vacuum cleaner too -ie plugs each end of larger rooms. If you know where the furniture will be going then a power point for phone /tablet charging near the popular chairs are a good idea too ! You can get plugs with built in USB points that's pretty useful too ! Small 'Lamp electric sockets' for each of your room table lamps - that can then all be switched on/off together from one ( or two ) light switch points can be good if you use lamps in your room scheme ... Hi Angie You could take away the space for bedroom 3 and put your stairway in there. Possibly a U shaped stair that will open up the space and give you a beautiful welcome area. Take the wall away between the kitchen/living room to give you a large, open plan living/dining/kitchen area. If you really want to go all out I would just have a minimalist kitchen with one bank of units along the wall to the front garden and a large island with cooker in the middle. I meant that you had drawn a run of units that was 20’ long and you could likely get a great kitchen into a smaller space, leaving room for dining. Attaching a dining table to the island is a stylish look and often helps people with insufficient room. Personally though I would prefer the flexibility of a freestanding table that you can extend.
