Long Basement Flat corridor needs uplifting somehow

I have a 12 metre long corridor as you enter my basement flat which lacks a fair amount of natural light. I need to come up with ideas for how to uplift and improve the space by the clever use of lighting but also decoration. For instance the floors are almost white as are the walls but should I make one a feature wall (dark or wood clad ceded or panelled) or is that too extreme? Please help! D
