My first thought is that the bed looks a little close to the furniture across from the foot of it. I might try the bed on the window wall and instead of the piece on the wall that has the door, eliminate it and get two bedside table pieces with storage to accommodate whatever you were going to store in the piece across from the foot of the bed in your plan. I like beige and gray schemes in the bedroom too, and find some live green plants add a perfect spot of color, or perhaps a kind of acid green silk texture throw pillow. My suggestion is to browse Houzz photos and save the color schemes that you really love! Adding something sparkly will pep up a design that you think is too monochromatic as well - some silver or crystal bling? I added some bling-y chandeliers on either side of the bed in one of my bedrooms, which is fairly monochromatic in beige and gray tones. Some of the throw pillows also have a silvery touch in them.

A much more functional layout can be achieved in the existing room by flipping the existing hob and fridge freezer. It looks like you are currently losing a good 30cm or so of potential counter and cabinetry space next to the doorway, and it would give you a longer counter run between sink and hob. I would also add a long bank of shallow low cabinetry alongside the wall between the 2 doorways, which would give you quite a lot of additional storage space without interfering with the walkway or sight lines. Plus the narrow ledge there could help keep clutter off your work surfaces. In terms of dining space, you could lose your unloved peninsula and then add a small table and chairs. You would have to squeeze in the 60cm oven into the main work area, but 30cm would be gained by the fridge move, and another 20cm could be gained by swapping to a 60cm sink cabinet. (I assume it’s 80cm right now.).

Sorry about the soap story title, but I need help with arranging furniture in my newly rented living room. I got this amazing free IKEA vimls sofa: 4 seater with chaise- 3.2m 🙈 2 seater -1.7 Footstool I thought the living room was big but it's not as big I guess and I'm struggling! Living room dimensions: Long wall: 5.7m Short wall: 3.7 I went there today trying to see how I can make it work! Fireplace will be used so I was advised against placing TV above it, plus I don't like the look. I'm hoping to have the fireplace as a focal point and TV elsewhere but where as it needs to be comfortably viewable from the sofas! I took some pics- pls.ignore colours as it will all be painted white and I have a massive jute rug to cover the whole area. I think I tried all options but am I missing a trick? P.s. I'm considering using the two seater in the kitchen and only keeping chaise lounge in the living room with the footstool making it a U shape sofa...

Thanks Jen. We are almost decided now that we will go with the taller unit. We will get this as a complete unit and my fitter will cut the shelves around the wall column. This larder unit is 600mm deep and 600mm wide. The wall column is about 250mm deep and 200mm wide. Which means we will still have decent shelving space. I have a large (120cm) extractor behind those wall cabinets above the hobs, we can't really do any open shelves there.
