We moved in to our new house just over a year ago and our living room layout with our sofas means we have a large square of dead space between our two sofas. I would really appreciate any practically and/or beautiful suggestions as It really annoys me!

Not sure if this photo helps! I really don't want to get rid of my sofas although that might be the easiest solution!

Maybe like an old chest sort of thing where you can keep books and stuff it and then u can also use it as a table...sorry-not very inspiring is it! Uhh I'll have to think...

That's not a bad idea as you can't really walk into the space so a bookcase etc would be a bit trapped. We also need it to be tall as our sofas are over 70cm tall, will have to hit car boots and antique fairs I think!

YOu need a square side table that fits almost exacty that space (you can even have it custom cut as no one will see what is underneath. A striking table lamp will add a focal point and "connect" the two sofas whilst giving great task lighting https://www.houzz.com/photos/hyde-park-renovation-transitional-living-room-chicago-phvw-vp~1686277
