Lovely kitchen, I really like you light fixtures and your breakfast bar! If you won't be using table and chairs could you have a small sofa and coffee table instead? Maybe a round/oval table that you can move around easily enough and pop this on a vibrant rug? Made.com have some really cool modern rugs and sofas.

Hi Louise, thank you for your help and ideas. I am toying between a square glass table with acrylic chairs or a grey sofa with coloured buttons from made.com! Great minds! Dining table would be rarely used as can seat 4 at breakfast bar, but it's a bit odd sitting in a line! Not allot of room in dining area, so I don't want to clutter it unnecessarily! Hmmm! Decisions!

I need to replace the light in the dining area unfortunately, as although I like the design, it doesn't emit more light than a candle! Terrible!

I think something that is different to your bar lights would be even better anyway. I love Kelly happen style too and maybe some kind of chandelier would look good? I guess it would need to compliment your sofa though. Could you get blinds instead of the voile panels? I think that might look more chic....cheaper than shutters too which is a kelly favourite isn't it!

There's a lot of great things you could do with your space which is lovely btw. There seems to be a lot of things you still want to do,it may be worth paying an interior designer if only for an hour or two,to point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Yes agree! Lime looks fresh & modern. I have some lime coloured glasses, noticed they looked good. Just need to make sure splash back goes with it. Stainless steel would work. The glass up stands I'm looking at are a very pale green (you know, clear glass has a slight tint of green).

I'm back on track with the project. I have an abstract canvas which is white, grey with hints of lime and blue (see pic).

I'll be using lime and teal accessories to go with the White gloss kitchen and oak worktop. Going with a chair, lamp (arc) and table in dining area (see pic).

I could do with some advice about blinds. This is the selection I have, I'm erring towards the geometric print. Would these blinds work over both windows or would the pattern be too much? Should I choose a complementary colour for the blind in the dining area? I'm straying from my minimalist roots!

I have a virtually identical kitchen and I agonised for ages over my splashback. In the end, I had a mirror cut to size and fitted it with No Nails. It looks amazing and it's really easy to keep clean while having all the usual light reflecting/illusion of size benefits of mirrors.

I thought about mirror, but assumed it would be a nightmare to clean... Most people say stainless steel is hard work enough. How/what do you clean the mirror with? Thanks!

I use cif stainless steel spray and a cloth and don't actually find it hard to clean at all.

Using a squeegee is the best way to prevent streaks/smudges. They're really cheap and you can pick them up from any hardware store

I am in the middle of redoing my house with a kitchen in the same style. I would be interested in knowing what type of wood floor you used, it looks nice.

Hi Mutleyz. glass splash backs are great and easy to clean. you could go for a white sparkle one adds a bit of fun but doesn't tie you into a colour. I would put roman blinds at the windows and door clean and simple in keeping with minimalist styling. Lime and teal with be lovely a good choice and lots of options, harlequin, sanderson, prestigious,villa nova, all good fabric companies you should find something there. John Lewis stock most of their ranges or if you have a local curtain maker ask her I am sure she will be reasonable making made to measure. or simple plain fabrics with a contrast border.
with the dining sitting space dilemma which would get used more? are you likely to sit in the kitchen? or would you go to the living room for that? I would lean to putting in a dining table. Although you say you wont use it, it is surprising how much you will. If you have friends or family over for dinner you will need a table. If you don't have one you are restricted, if you want a comfy chair you do have the lounge anyway.
and yes Cif if great for stainless steel. I use the plain one in the yellow bottle and it is the best.

Hi Jaimie, Yes, I think it will be glass splash backs. The Roman blinds are on order in a lovely duck egg silk. The lime and teal accessories are in! I've gone for a chair in the dining room (for now) as there is enough space for 4 at the breakfast bar and the large stools are really comfy! Thanks so much for all your advice! I just clean it with window cleaner! It's brilliant. And no grout to worry about, either!

you could always put lighting streaming upwards from the top of the wall units like this is always gives off a great extra lighting effect

also for the splashback you could try some glass like this i used on a recent install
