I think you pretty much covered it in your question. Granite has a grip, it is extremely hardwearing. it will stain however if you don't seal it. the stains tend to wash/bleach out over time though. my opinion is that it being a natural product the slight variations that will occur between each stone are exactly what makes it nice. Ceramic tiles may be the better option to provide the uniformity you require. there are more and more of these being brought to the market and they are extremely popular. the finishes vary and non slip ones are out there. the great asset is that they can be cleaned very easily. Couple that with the ease of grouting/pointing (you will be able to use a wet grouting mix and clean off as you go) it makes for a very practical solution. they will need to be laid on a concrete screed for best results which is an added cost.

Hi Karen, What a fantastic statement sofa - this is going to look great in your Living room. I would suggest you keep all your walls one colour, as the impact will be from your sofas, but I’d avoid putting a darker colour behind your sofa as it may result in this statement blending into the wall colour and not having the ‘wow’ piece you are wanting. I would recommend either Potters Clay 3, which is a pale, greyed off, taupe colour, or Chalk Blush 3 which is a pale, redder toned neutral. I think you can move the tv to the wall opposite the window. you can fit some sheer curtains and a blackout roller (motorised or smart) blind for privacy in the evening and if you would like o to watch the tv in the daytime. your brown sofa can go near the window and eventually be replaced by a middle-sized corner sofa or sofa with a chaise. i think it's a nice place to sit in the daytime with a book, or as a family. you can see the window, fireplace, tv and have a good space for a conversation set. you can have a comfy chair in the corner with a floor lamp. you would have enough space for a desk and some storage near the door and you can hang the guitars on the wall with special guitar wall holders. a mirror in the corner with a lamp would reflect some light into the room and will add depth to the space. a large light rug/kilim placed on top of the carpet will bring light up the space also

The most obvious place for the sofa is where they have it. What size is your sofa? Which way would you like to face as in is there a view outside the french doors? I quite like how their tv is wall mounted. If it was on a bracket it could be pulled forward for watching. What about an L shaped sofa along the same wall as the previous owners with the ottoman end along the left hand wall? You could put the sofa at 90deg to the doors but there are access issues and the woodburner might not be as visible. Its an attractive woodburner I would want to see it. Sorry only read your second comment now. I would set up my 3 seater sofa with the armchair at the end as though it was L shaped. I wasn't going to mention the carpet...
