Living room layout dilemma
Comments (5)Perhaps consider a room divider which has various storage holes in it. From one side, toys and books for the children on the other create a more adult storage section. It won't get rid of television noise but still gives you the option to keep one large room. Live in the house as you and your family need it not necessarily how you think other people may want to buy it....See MoreKitchen/living layout dilemma - can I avoid open plan?
Comments (8)Personally I don't think you will gain much extra space by blocking up either opening and if you were to open up the kitchen through the hatch you might get more light but you will create flooring problems. I think many people would also want to see an approximate floor plan to provide a more definitive opinion. From what I can see I think that you keep a similar layout but perhaps move the sink and hob further apart to create more work space. Comments (5)Hi Sinead, We like your current layout, the position of the sofa and the tv is probably the best. You could change the position of the coffee table, to be in front of the sofa. You could perhaps add a wow factor console on the empty wall, and a nice armchair sofa and a floor lamp on the corner. A picture on top of the fireplace and a large mirror would add a lot of personality to the room, and you could also change the curtain (hang them higher, and long to kiss the floor) We offer a very affordable online interior design service, so we could work with you if you are interested. We would discuss your ideas with you and put a scheme together that brings the best out of them. By sending you a moodboard with all the elements we can help you to visualise the space. You will also get a shopping list with options to fit your budget. We are not linked to any suppliers so our recommendations would be tailored to you. Let us know if you are interested. Comments (1)Hello Francis, the entrance door could be min 450mm away from the stairs in accordance with the Building Regulations. In my view, the double doors have been positioned very well. If you were to move it to the right on the plan by another 150mm : a. it will ruin the existing symetry and b. it will affect the window....See MoreJen
