Styling and colour? help!

My new house is open plan leading from the kitchen to the living room. I have gone with grey as a base colour. I'm fairly happy with the outcome. I want to take it to the next level though and add some colour. I'm thinking to change the rug to a yellow or something... I've already got grey black and white In the room... Some ideas what I could put on the brick wall behind the sofa would be great help?? Or accessories... Any ideas would be a great help! I'm thinking of green or yellow as an accent colour?

Hi Nathan, It seems to me that you're drawn to quite an industrial style with monochrome bachelor elements. Thus I'm wondering if adding much colour is really the right thing for you personally? Looking at the pieces you've chosen so far, I would suggest that you remain with the monochrome theme, but what the space really needs is accessorising. The brick wall is beautiful - personally I wouldn't suggest that you touch it - but it is very dominant. How about some black and white framed prints on that wall, but make them large - in proportion with the size of the wall they're placed on. Definitely some cushions and a throw will help "cosify" and personalise, although I'm not suggesting a girly selection. Black or navy and white Ikat patterns or chevron, maybe add a few patterns consisting of inky blues and soften with some dove grey to get some paler tones in there to contrast. Of course if you do want some colour, just a little in the form of a few cushions will go a long way. Good luck!

White vertical blinds are strictly for office use (and even then they're dated). Go for the grey. Roman blinds are softer then roller blinds.

We've finally made a move forward and have gone with a flush Casement Window. (anglian) Still undecided on colour and are looking at Agate Grey or cream (the anglian cream is quite dark yellow) for the windows Looking at making the door more central with a glass panel down either side. (solid composite door) sage green in colour.
