Help needed with window colour and style

Hiya, we are looking to remove the walls that I have circled in black and create one big bank of opening doors / windows in the space (the front is private and can not been seen from the road.

1) What type of doors? Bi-fold doors with the widest glass width that I can find or framless sliding doors (I think the latter would look great from the inside, but may not work with the outside?)?

2) Colour - I hate the existing mixture of colours and particulary the orange type wood colour on the downstairs windows. So thinking oak like the front door and upstairs windows or painted - but what colour and would I also paint the front door? The oak framed triangle will not be changed.

I am currently holding up (3 years now!), the decorating of both rooms as I can not make up my mind - help!! The room next to the front door is going to be a music room and the one on the right it the lounge.

Lovely house and I can understand you wanting to bring all the window colours together. Dark colours are very on trend at the moment, which I really like, so how about very dark grey, almost black? It would look so good against your brickwork. You can then paint the variety of windows in that same shade. Bifolds or sliding is personal taste I think, so no right or wrong choice. I prefer sliding myself. Obviously the pillars are probably structural so you will need lintels, but I’m sure you know that. Can’t see any moss! :-)

What a gorgeous house. I think that duplicating things is a good idea, so keeping the front door oak makes sense because it relates to the oak windows upstairs. You could then have oak windows, or, as Forzaitalia says a dark colour, but if going for a dark colour such as black or charcoal I would consider painting the bargeboards/soffits the same colour so it looks deliberate. You could also stain the upstairs cladding black which would look really smart next to the oak. Black can look a bit harsh next to pale render but I think it works really well next to brick.

Hello. Are you wanting to have traditional leaded lights in place of your single pane glass? Or double glazed units? A local stained glass company should be able to make you some leaded lights to fit in placement of your single glass. They are more secure if someone tries to break in but won't offer any heat solutions. You could also consider adding a Perspex secondary glazed panel behind the single pane to help with heat loss/security. Prices for leaded lights (straight topped and in clear plain glass) start from £15-30 per square foot plus fitting charges.

What other colours do you have going on the room? If you're going for drama a bright splash of colour would awaken your space. If you're leaning towards the muted then go for a dark neutral colour- you need some contrast so it's not boring.

Hi, the space looks fantastic with those wooden stairs and rustic beams. I agree with the comment above about the sofa- would look and feel more comfy if you went for fully upholstered one. I think you could play with whites, greys, black and wood colours and chose one more to add: yellow, blue or even red/pink to fit your chair in.
