I don't know where you're located but we installed warmly yours electric heat under the tile in our guest baths and in our bar that are on a concrete floor in our lower level. We love them and are planning on doing it in our master bath when we remodel in a few years. Zones and thermostat controlled. They were easy for our tile guy to layout, order, and install and don't take up any height so there is no transition to a slightly higher floor. Just my experience. I have fitted several different electrical UFH manufacturers systems over the years & the most popular choice is Warm Up & also Flexel. Warm Up comes with a lifetime warranty as long as it's installed as per installation guidelines. My advice is make sure you don't get sold heating cable you don't need!! For example a customer from a few years ago purchased his UFH from a well known national tile chain, required 18m2 in total so they sold him 3 x 6m2 signal cable kits to be joined together instead of 2 x 9m2 kits, costing substantially more! Hi John, I've recently had underfloor heating fitted and it works really well. The advice I was given was that wet UF is more expensive to install but cheaper to run and dry UF is cheaper to install but more expensive to run. I had it fitted in a new extension that is now my kitchen diner, so because it was ground floor I chose wet UF and have fitted porcelain tiles over it. Wood looks beautiful but I have 3 dogs so tiles are more practical. Also it's possible that wood as a living entity could warp and shift with the changes in temperature.

UFH works best with tile or stone or concrete floors I believe, none of which I’d want upstairs in a UK house. You could have engineered wood, but again in the UK people will want lots of rugs on it and that will reduce the efficacy of the UFH. I would suggest finding vertical radiators as these can go in much more unobtrusive locations - behind a door for example. I don‘t see why it would make the air drier than any other heating though.
