Underfloor Heating The Pros & Cons
Pros
Provides warm and cosy stone and tile floors.
Can replace radiators in a room, freeing up wall and floor space and offering a high-end finish.
Lots of flexible options available, covering different flooring types.
Possible to install in a new-build or retrospectively.
Cons
Retrofit installation of underfloor heating can be a upheaval.
Not all underfloor heating systems can replace radiators as the main heating source.
Longer heat-up times.

underfloor heating is really not as effective as a wall / ceiling heating, because of the limitation of 29 degrees. Modern technics like the carbon fiber heating with 0,2 mm thickness just glued or plastered at the wall or the ceiling is effektiv and clean in mounting and usage. The Surface temperature should be around 38 - 44 C an in under 2 minutes you feel the warmth on your body. But if you prefer underfloor heating you should check the structure height first, because of the doors a.s.o. Personally I use wall heating, because it protects your home from mold and moisture.

I don't know where you're located but we installed warmly yours electric heat under the tile in our guest baths and in our bar that are on a concrete floor in our lower level. We love them and are planning on doing it in our master bath when we remodel in a few years. Zones and thermostat controlled. They were easy for our tile guy to layout, order, and install and don't take up any height so there is no transition to a slightly higher floor. Just my experience. Gas-fired underfloor heating is more expensive to install but far cheaper to run than electric. A big issue in putting underfloor heating in an existing room is providing enough insulation below for it to work properly. If you intended to replace an existing concrete floor structure as part of the alterations (and depending on the current construction), you'd probably need to excavate further down for a new build-up with UFH to finish at the current level, since it's normally laid over c.75mm thick insulation. Gas-fired UFH is normally laid in a c.70mm sand/cement screed whereas electric has a thinner build-up over the insulation.

As above, often underfloor heating is great for taking the edge off but would need to be backed up by radiators especially if your ceiling is more than 2.4m and you are using the room as a dining room. If it were just a kitchen with a low ceiling it might be ok, but being sat, static, in a dining room means more heat is required. For example, my mum has electric underfloor heating in her kitchen/diner with a contemporary style towel radiator at the kitchen end to dry tea towels (another plus point) and a Classic steel column radiator at the dining end. The underfloor takes a few hours to warm up as it is under tiles so she likes the radiators for the quicker response times and as it is a Victorian house with 2.7m high ceilings, the underfloor wouldn't be enough heat on its own. The key point here is your heat output requirements. You need to make sure that, whatever options you would prefer, the total heat output will be enough to heat the room and that also you don't over do it and spend more money than you need to. The heat output is calculated by measuring the height, width and length of the room then following a formula as per our link below. We have used on one project (in front of wide sliding floors and picture window), and the cost did seem excessive for the product. They also present a trip hazard to those wearing stiletto shoes. The obvious advantage is they take up no floor space. In my opinion their use is limited to situations where there is no space for radiators and UFH is not an option.
