Do you have Photoshop? If you do you can upload and resize pictures of existing furniture (and even recolour them if, for instance, you are thinking of reupholstering) that way, then drop them in to your room design. SketchUp is free and a lot of people find it the easiest interior design software to use. Have fun!

have tried sketch up but prefer the one im using, Photoshop is my next learning curve !! thank you for your comments, looking to put my new skills to use

i started using chief architect 5 years ago, began with the 2012 version, now using architectural and saving for the 2015 professional one, i have home designer 2015 essentials for sale as this one is fine for beginners but im more advanced in the use now, £20 if your interested ?

did you want to purchase home designer, i think it is the best one you could try, easy to learn, i have a manual you could borrow if you would like it to give you a start ? i did my B A Hons degree using this
