This is our lovely kitchen after our garage conversion. Walls painted in farrow and ball cooking Apple green and cream cupboards.
My new struggle is what blind to get. My husband says we can't have a wooden blind as it'll be too heavy for the new lintel. Do I go plain fabric or patterned? I did find a lovely geometric print but it was too yellow for the green.

Your new kitchen looks fab, I bet you're so pleased! Both plain and patterned fabrics would look stunning in the new setting, but why not go for a pretty pattern if it's something you're considering? Geometrics are very on-trend right now, whereas a floral or botanical print will offer a timeless look. A stripe might be a nice choice alternatively.
As for blind types, Roller blinds are a perfectly practical choice for a kitchen, particularly when the window is behind a sink like yours. You might like to consider a PVC Roller blind to stop any little splashes from becoming a problem!
I've attached an image of a kitchen in a similar style to yours which looks stunning with a striking print. Of course, the colours are slightly different, but hopefully it will give you an idea of how a pattern might work.

Comments (7)Hiya, Thanks for the image. I don't think your bathroom will feel clinical, but it really does depend on what kind of feel you're going for. Some people like a bright colour at the window, and a Roman blind is great for this. Here's an example - it could fit in nicely with what you say about an accent colour for towels etc. However, if your bathroom is a very steamy, damp place, you might like to choose something water resistant. Roller blinds and Fauxwood blinds are probably your best bet, as they're available in special coatings or fabrics which mean they won't warp or risk going mouldy. Comments (2)Agree with CreatePerfect, Purple is going to be too darkening on the room in general and should be reserved for the accent colours, cushions etc. ( Love all the colour fabrics shown in the first pic and would pick cushions in all colours used ). I think the blush is a good medium and will go with all., I had a quick look on blinds 2 go and they have two fabrics called blush, you can't tell the difference on the website, so i'd always order swatches. If you don't like plain, i did find one that encapsulated all your colours in a leaf design, and also one with blush and purple in a more modern design. Comments (7)I like the grey/purple combo, but try and find patterns with the different colour ways. Put the swatches up on the window to see how they look in the light. Don't be afraid of a pattern but you might want something that isn't too dominant especially in the lounge. PRO11 years agoI would suggest a laminated roller blind in a stripe incorporating green, taupe and perhaps raspberry.
Romo (fabric company) have lots of lovely stripes which are suitable for blinds. For a one stop shop The Stripes Company have a good range of stripes which can be made by them into laminated blinds. I thought this ticking called Beige and Green looked nice but there were other options - I like Cricket which has some brighter colours in it. You can order fabric samples and see what works best with the light.

PRO11 years agoYou could go for a leather blind (pic 1) or something more geometric like the fabric on pic 2. Always prefer stripy fabrics to go vertically than horizontally. See idea from Casadeco.
