Hi there,

Bay windows are a stunning feature and there are lots of different ways in which you can dress them. For example, shutters will create a beautiful effect and make a real statement in your room. Alternatively, many people like to layer Roman blinds with dress curtains for a really sumptuous look. Roller blinds are also a practical choice, and are available in lots of different colours and designs for a fantastic look.

We're about to do our bays with roman blinds. Another alternative is to put curtains across the front of the bay, it's a bit cheaper than getting tracks to fit around the inside of the bay.

Before we chose a handle free kitchen, we were going to have the handles that were just a thin long strip of metal with recess. I think some can sit on top of the kitchen door and others just fix on the front but are really contemporary, clean and minimalist. Have a look at howdens online as they had one in their catalogue. I don't have a picture but I think you will see which one it is easily.

Thanks all for your comments. I think on balance I will go with two blinds (agree with you jjcg need the wall area between the blinds to break it up) and will hang above the window frame (hopefully the fabric folds won't stick out too much if the batten is the right depth) but keep the width to within the outside window frame. Then with the blinds up I should still just see the top of the arches. They might make the windows look a bit tall but seems there will be a compromise whatever I do.....hopefully that all makes sense to read!

Thomas Sanderson make very slim profile blinds that fit into the little recess of the door to the window. They drill the wires into the top and bottom, then the blid folds as they're lifted. Tey take about 1cm of space at the top when fully open. They're easy to push up and down, and everyone comments on how good they look. They let in light but provide privacy. We found shutters made our rooms far too dark. They're not cheap though! We have 9 bifold doors, and each door was around £150. Well worth it though.

I would suggest leaving the green scheme in situ at the moment as it think i see green flecks in your material swatch. Going blue in wall, curtains, and furniture, althought it seems coordinated, might end up being too matchy matchy in real life. The green flecks may actually be better co-ordinated than it initally appears and the furniture may actually bring the room together.
