Hi. I think it obviously depends on what style you're going for. The Vibieffe ( 2 seater) would be more welcoming with more cushions. I'm personally not so keen on the L shape configuration for this one. Is the top pic also the Timothy Oulton? If so I think the base looks much better against the wood floor rather than the rug where the material has gathered on the floor. The room is large so I'd probably go for 2 singles but it does have a fireplace? Is this Central to the room? Do you have a plan?

Thanks tamp75. It turns out the painter is only doing a white mist coat today & is returning later in the week so I have time to buy even more testers. LOL. He said I can paint the testers on the walls in the extension which should help as it is west facing whereas the playroom that I tested them on is east facing. We were originally going to go with Cornforth White kitchen cabinets but DIY's standard light grey was a lovely colour (&,cheaper!) so we went with that. I think if we'd gone with Cornforth White the decision making on the wall colour would have been easier!!

Personally I think you set a budget and ensure that the house is worth spending that money on. Then consider the all the pretty jobs such as kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, landscaping etc and the cost of the essential jobs such as requiring or new boiler or new windows. When you know how much you have left you can better understand how ambitions your renovation extension plans will be- it might be that you conclude that your budget suggests just knocking a couple of rooms together to improve flow and the feeling of space- if that is the case then choose a Designer/ Concept planner to help creatively then find a good general builder with a contact with a structural engineer who can satisfy building regs. Alternatively you might decide your plans are ambitious and decide to extend. If that is the case your budget will indicate what sort of extra footprint is possible and you then need creative input which can come from a designer/concept planner or architect. You need to run plans past a builder to check ballpark figures meet your budget then you can make firm decisions about what professionals are needed to make it happen.
