Sneaky thing, not sharing the rug with us! But you're right, the colours are v difficult; the pink is wrong -- if it were terracotta I think it'd be great. The fireplace space: of course, if you have a millionaire to schmooze, a great piece of sculpture. My go-to instead of sculpture is tree branches, from the year's winter pruning. Not funny sticky things bought from a shop, something you find that you think is a beautiful shape, art from nature just as it is. In a floor vase with a narrow neck. Can you get out into the country, or a big park, at pruning time? A real branch can last pretty well forever, you don't need to do it every year.

Hi, I have a walkway though my lounge to the conservatory it feels like a dirt track & driving me nuts My tv is too big to go in the bay window ( which i love) and we have tried moving the sofas to edges of the rug so one in front of conservatory and one on the rug side of the window but didn't look right and hated the space between the sofa and window and also didn't like the other sofa bang on the conservatory Any good ideas on how to arrange my room please The radiator is behind the sofa with the shelves on the wall

This is how the lounge is looking right now. Excuse the mess as we're just clearing out the understairs cupboard to hopefully put in drawers instead for shoes etc! Anyone have any ideas how we can arrange it better please? Thanks for your advice so far Minnie! The understairs bit is tiny and not able to fit much under currently. Not sure how much it would cost to remove the fireplace. It does add a bit of charcater though to a boring 80s box so i'm a bit loathed to remove it? TIA

How high is the window? Could you do something like this? Window seat incorporating the radiator though. How many do you need to seat regularly? I might be tempted to go for a long sofa on the back wall with a chair (maybe a swivel one) somewhere towards the bottom left with tv bottom right. You can always add a nice beanbag/pouffe for occasional seating A corner/chaise could work but you tend to have that awkward corner bit where nobody wants to sit. Perhaps try one out in a shop? Alternatively you could have a bookcase on the long wall (with toy storage in the corners for easy access ) with a sofa in front. Personally i’d have the bookcase the same colour as the walls so it doesn’t overwhelm the room
