What is actually needed in the kitchen area on a day-to-day basis? Can crockery, etc be moved elsewhere (perhaps to the dining area)? I have a galley kitchen, though it is larger than this one. And I am guilty of keeping things in it which don't really need to be there, such as rarely used items. Saucepans were a huge problem, which I have solved by investing in Cristel* pans with removable handles. These can not only stack together, they can be used in the oven, so save on roasting pans too. I am also a terrible food hoarder, and found myself with packets of pasta in three different cupboards. Just before Christmas, I made a pantry area in the garage, which happens to be quite cool, keeping only day to day items in the kitchen. It has made a big difference! * They are NOT cheap, but take any amount of punishment and come up looking perfect. I particularly love being able to make a stew, then pop some pastry on top and stick it in the oven, or cheese on a pasta dish and put it under the grill.

I really like your layout, but I think the downstairs toilet is too tucked away. If you’re in the living room or office, you’d have to walk through the entire downstairs to get to the toilet. Also, I think the utility is too far away from outside to hang washing and too far from upstairs to bring down laundry. Personally I’d change the current utility and WC to a big walk in pantry/utility with extra kitchen storage space (at the moment there wouldn’t be enough kitchen storage for me). Then I’d change the mud room to a toilet with a door from the hallway and a utility/ mud room with the washing machine and sink etc so that it’s closer to upstairs and has a door to outside. I’ve attached a very bad drawing to show what I mean. This would be my preference, but it really depends how you use the space

If you are able to move the washing machine out of the kitchen, you could create a small seating area by the conservatory door. This could work as a breakfast bar without sacrificing worktop space. I would not go for a galley kitchen. The footprint, ignoring the corridor space between the two doors, is square. That lends itself to U or L shape. A galley kitchen will waste space and you'll end up with a big empty wall where the cooker currently is. I also think that an integrated oven with an induction hob would work much better. You could replace the corner cupboard under the window with a 900mm L shape unit, which would be much easier to access, even with standard shelves, but you can add a carrousel to avoid awkward corners. Another option you have is moving the fridge next to the oven. This will leave about 500mm to the right of the fridge for the electrics cupboard. In the space where the fridge was, I would put a tall 300mm deep larder. I have one in my kitchen and it's amazing how much you can get into it, plus everything is easy to access because it's not too deep. An 800mm wide unit (like this: https://www.kitchperfect.com/product/800mm-double-larder-unit-2150-high-300mm-deep-split-doors-smallest-door-to-top-total-height-2300-including-150-legs/) would probably work well. There would be space for the bin to the left of the cupboard. I also think you need more wall cupboards, both from a practical and aesthetic point of view. That single cupboard on the right makes the kitchen look unfinished and it would be more balanced with something else to the left, though I appreciate you won't want to block light from the window, so maybe a smaller cupboard or some shelves would work :⁠-⁠)
