Need help with kitchen worktops

I am having a nightmare trying to decide which worktop and flooring to go for.
I already have the units and doors which are cream gloss (a light cream)
The kitchen is a complete blank canvas, any suggestions? All I want is for it to look contemporary.

Hi Tom.
There is so much to choose from: natural - including marble (needs a little more maintenance) and granite and non-natural materials, such as quartz or Corian. It is down to what kind of look you are wanting to achieve and whether you wish the floor to match the worktop or to compliment it.

If you are looking for something maintenance free and with a modern look, then I guess man-made quartz is your best bet. Man-made quartz is Man-made quartz is achieved by mixing crushed quartz with poly-structural resin, and vacuum pressed. The result is a non-porous material with outstanding characteristics, which is suitable for many interior applications, including kitchen worktops. But this is only an option.

Hi, in my opinion, you need for the top a darker, neutral tone to add some contrast with the big amount of white of the doors. You can even go for bit of texture on this top, as it is a good opportunity to warm up the kitchen, very cold at present. There is a wide variety of worktops available at Egger, 38 mm thickness.From them I would suggest Red Brown Leon Slate or Brown Malawi ( with wood grain texture), for a nice, warm but darker top.Valetta Sand or Isodora Beige, might be a second option, too, if you don't like contrasts. Another interesting option would be a texture similar to Corten Steel or Cooper Or, if you feel adventurous and want an element of surprise, you can always try a top on real reclaimed or distressed wood.
