how to decide!?!?

Does anyone else need about a million houses to decorate to put all the ideas they have into? Our house is going to turn into such a miss match as I have so many rooms in my head i want to create and yet i only have 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen etc. and i can't decide my favourite. =( how did you decide what scheme was the one to go for?

Pick a palate of colours in advance- basically giving you some rules to stick to so that each room looks like it belongs next to the previous one

I certainly don't have any genius ideas :) but I second forzaitalia's white door suggestion. You can probably 'get away with' leaving the doorframes as they are, seeing your window frames are in a natural wood colour too. You'd have to give other doors (at least the nearby one) the same treatment though, I feel. Perhaps you could also consider changing the ceiling light at some stage to make the artwork blend better still.

This is probably way too late & you have already installed your floor but I would go option 3 ... always lay the boards following the length of the room. In your hallway it will create length / space ... a T-section in the same timber at the transition from hall to living room will allow you to change direction seamlessly. Hi Maxine ... As you probably know of the Cotswolds, develop happens slowly and certainly your property shows signs of having had changes over time... the thing to remember is that each of these ''changes'' will have happened during a period when style and aesthetic form part of that period. I'm not saying you have to follow these exactly but being faithful and honest will give you the greatest satisfaction... I empathise. I am currently choosing a kitchen, bathroom, ensuite, 3 children bedrooms & new flooring downstairs. Head hurts.

Stick to a limited palette for paint (for example 3 neutrals in slightly different tones and levels of warmth) and then add a couple of accents that will work. I chose 3 Little Green neutrals and teal and mustard as accent colours.

Pick a room in the house, think realistically what you can do with it then focus on that one room at a time until complete

I have moved house 3 months ago, every room needs work & new kitchen, bathroom etc. I have ideas on Houzz that I like & have colour palettes that I love so taking my time rather than rushing into it & making mistakes. Takes time to work out how the light comes in etc. As above go with the style of the house. Good luck.
