Hi I'm looking at having a built in unit made for under the stairs. I'm unsure what to have and whether to incorporate the TV into it. I need to hide the wires for the media units and not sure of the best way to use the space we have. The width of the room from fire place to wall is just over 2.7 meters with an additional 1m beneath the stairs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

L,shaped unit high gloss finish to reflect light.incorporate drawers and shelves..higher at left side.perhaps shelves there and low drawer across front.both functional and decrative

Best thing I have ever done with my under stairs: three large drawers. LCD TV's are pretty lightweight so as long as you are happy with a smallish screen, you can mount it to a drawer front and keep cables and other parafinalia in the drawer behind.

I love all those. I'm another one who has the dryer over the washed (both with doors on) for convenience and to save space. Larder units with chrome pullouts is also a favourite.

Hi, I wasn't really meaning take the console away and move the table so far as to close the gap, more take the table away and use the room to create space. You look like you have a lot of room up by the door on the wall facing. If you remove the ladder shelves, you could replace it with a dresser or sideboard. We have a painted Queen Anne sideboard, you can fit loads in it and it's only 50cm deep. A dresser to match your table would look great too. I personally prefer the mirrored on to add light, although you could have a sideboard with a mirror over it as separate items:-

Thank you. My space is a little restricted (under the pitched roof) so thinking to opt for small rectangular unit. I appreciate it's difficult without a photo but currently space under the TV serves as storage so not doing it any favour! Did you manage to run all cables through the cable organiser? Your space looks nice!

It depends on how you use the room and which room the door leads into, I think. If you use this as the main sitting room/lounge I would be tempted to just put vertical panels to close it up, so you can store whatever under the stairs, and put the TV above the fireplace instead. If you do bifold doors I think you can get away with mounting the TV on one of the panels and the door can open in a way that won't bother the Tv. I have something similar in my new build, but the developers did not use the full length under the stairs so the storage 'room' is rather small. I use the remaining of the space outside to put an American fridge freezer (under stairs space is inside my kitchen diner.)
