Not necessarily. Choose colours which are not timebound. Avoid corals, lime greens etc, go rather for black, deep reds, white, these have made thir proof timewise
red is associated with heat and has been one of my favorite colour to use in designs for over a decade, deep dark reds tend to do the best rather than bright reds
I think colours can date VERY quickly as can fashions in mouldings and woods. Best to go with neutrals or very obviously vintage colours that aren't pretending to be current.
There are plenty of neutral properties that also look dated so neutrals obviously don't protect against this. I say use colour but have a consistent theme to your house and use the colours you like again and again for a feeling of continuity.
I agree with many of the above comments. Some colours will turn many people off (I personally can't abide pink) and as mentioned completely neutral kitchens can look bland. You could choose a colour that is subdued such as this one and mix it in with neutral coloured cabinets too.
