Or don't use wallpaper at all, and restore the fireplace, not sure if that was intended, as that will be a lovely feature in the room itself. One other way is to put wallpaper on the wall opposite the fireplace, which you can see from the open arched entrance, just make sure that whichever wallpaper you use flows also with the room leading into the current room from the arched open entrance, as it will be visible from there. Personally I do not like wallpapers used just on the chimney or on the chimney wall especially when there is a beautiful fireplace there which should be the most important feature in itself, but that is my personal preference...

Thank you guys for suggestions - I like the idea of coloured blinds in the windows Pat Oliver designs - trouble is, we are quite close to the road hence why we chose in the end the wooden Venetian blinds for privacy - although with the wall colour they make everything look orange (the colour on walls is "hot sand" by homebase but is more orangy than I had hoped :-( Its very hard to know what colour to paint the room with the biscuit carpet, and natural wood...I can't really change too much as we don't have a budget. I was hoping to get the look and definition I wanted by paint/paper...but might speak to my hubby to see if we could get some more shelving. Minnie - yes good idea about putting back a little of the wall - I was thinking the same myself - although there is only one door to the room and it is smack bang in the middle on opposite wall which makes things more complicated. :-( I imagine it would be expensive though as you say. I have been trying to find pics of rooms with 2 chimney breasts myself so if you do find some, please can you post them for me as I would love to see them. Thank you both again for your comments xx

Your colour scheme sounds lovely and by the looks of it, the project is coming along really well! The best way to consider how much grey to use is probably to consider lighting (daytime and in the evening). If you have lots of natural sunlight and artificial lighting for the evening then I'm sure you're onto a winner with the grey! Good luck!

Hi, This is a lovely little room, the mirror works really well and the shape gives the space interest. I think this is the paper your looking at: Everyone will advise you differently but this is how I would do it. I would use the paper on the mirror wall only. The mirror would look fabulous against this paper ! Make sure you add a little glass back panel directly behind the sink to protect the paper from splashes. There are two shades of grey in wall paper design, use these as your other wall colours (Use Farrow & Ball) Put the darker grey on the window wall to pull your eye as you enter and the lighter grey on the rear wall opposite the sink to keep the room light. Skirting, door, architraves in eggshell white and ceiling in matt white. As with the grey, use F&B paint for the white, it has a chalky tonal value which will soften the effect. Sincere apologies if you have just put the curtain up, its lovely but a full length curtain picking up the yellows with a perspex pole would transform the room.. Another trick I like to use is to put a white plantation shutter into the window which would be framed by the new curtain. This punches the white onto this wall tying it in with the sanitary ware colours. A small detail but if you kept the silver framed picture and replaced the mount with a yellow to match the paper this would look beautiful off a grey wall. Those are my thoughts, hope this helps.
