Need help with tiny girl room.
Comments (22)Hi, lots of good ideas already submitted. A loft or cabin bed will help make good use of smaller spaces, or an Ikea Hemnes daybed will extend out for sleepovers and has lots of storage space too. With a small space, I'd definitely go for white furniture and keep the style quite simple. Fitted furniture also worth considering if budget allows. If you are looking to "future proof" the room for when your daughter is older, consider a study bed such as those from www.studybed.co.uk - not cheap, but great use of limited space and will last well into teen years. Wrt walls - I'd keep it really simple as others suggest with offwhite or light grey walls and then add colour with soft furnishings. Of you want to add some girly interest to walls without breaking the bank, try the idea below - a couple of inexpensive stencils (butterflies here) and some tester pots of paint in nice contrasting colours....See MoreHelp with tiny cottage living room
Comments (11)Thankyou so much, ah I didn't think of tie backs! The fabric is very stiff, I managed to get them outside the bay....with a lot of difficulty because of the silly pelmet thing, and was thinking of a bit of heavy gold moulding to cover the bit which is outside of the pelmet going round the corner. Praps I might change them for some red toile ones? I love my books but they are a problem in a tiny cottage. I think a half size book case and do as you suggest. So lovely to have others opinions! Comments (11)Hello Karen, Yes a wet room style, there is no need for a glass partition at all (although some people do like to add one anyway) and in a large space can be nice. In your case there's no need and therefore no need to have a specific shaped tray.. The room is fully tanked and therefore the shower spray will go directly towards the floor. As you can have a wall or ceiling mounted shower rose angled where you want and the floor will have drainage usually a gradient but there are several options here. The "tray" often used will be hidden under the tiling or finish of the flooring and so specific shape negated.. For a seamless look I like floor and walls to match.. Of course how you want to deal with that is of course your preference.. It does though give you far more scope with the room, because you do not need to angle things to make them fit.. I always suggest wet rooms specifically for the reasons I mentioned and have been using this term for a long time which for me works to describe what I'm suggesting. I think it will work for you nicely.. You could also consider built in towel shelving and I rather like the seat in the second image.. some visual inspiration. : ))...See MoreHelp needed for tiny living room with large chimney breast
Comments (12)Thank you all. Apologies I'm not sure how to answer individually. I agree that the skirting board jutting out looks very strange, most rooms in the house have some 'interesting' design choices. Would you believe that the man who made these changes has now set up his own building company! The lamp on the left is from IKEA, I only bought it a few months ago so it should still be available. Unfortunately the lamp on the right is a flea market find so no idea where it came from. The second alcove is substantially smaller than the one with the bookcase currently in it. I'm just concerned that it may look 'unbalanced' with the built in shelves. I haven't managed to find pictures of rooms with alcoves differing in width. I do love the idea of built in shelves, it seems safer than our current bookcase and adding the storage underneath the last shelf would be helpful. I have found an original black cast iron Victorian fireplace with a width of 125cm versus the 140cm of the chimney. Would this work with the green wall? The room is painted in Breakfast Room Green and I've attached a photograph of the fireplace. Thank you for the suggestion about the mirror. This is the first time that the living room has been tidy enough to have the mirror against the chimney breast so it's helpful to have opinions on it's size. Thank you all again!...See Morebongoflava15
