Kitchen Help!!! Advise would be great !
Hi, I would welcome any advise on colours for my new kitchen as I always go safe! and want an amazing look as its my first big ever project need to get it right!! Walls and fireplace is just plaster at the moment, tiles do have a lovely silver sparkle to them and the lights. Odd bits of furniture we have need any pointers would be welcome :) Denise

Comments (28)Pity you have decided against glass in favour of tiles. We have just done our kitchen and I wanted an easy-to-clean surface for the splash back, so the rough surface of grouting around tiles, and also the indentations on some patterned tiles (which collect grease and grime) ruled them out for me! I went for glass, which the manufacturers matched exactly to the duck egg paint colour on the other walls (just gave them a product code of the paint), and although the initial outlay for the glass was expensive, the surface is so brilliant to keep clean and it looks fab as well. Comments (14)I agree with Jonathan and would remove the worktop return under the window and would have a larger island. Having the hob on the island is a very personal choice, some people like the sink there, others prefer it clear. I spent lots of time searching for people's opinions on kitchen colours and islands and everyone's opinion is different depending on their taste and what suits them and their family. Kitchens cost such a lot of money and I was so worried about getting it wrong. I'm having an induction hob on the island which will be split level, the seating area is higher than where the hob is, which again some people like, some don't, however it will suit us. I almost went for white gloss cabinets as it's a safe bet, but every time I looked at a picture of a grey kitchen I loved it so I thought, be brave and go for grey. I think the light and dark grey units work really well together. There are a many different reason to lift a dishwasher and make it more functional for daily use. When doing so consider the cabinet above. As shown in this photo lifting the dishwasher 12” AFF will create a void from the top of the dishwasher cabinet to the cabinets above. Resting the wall cabinet above on the lower cabinet will close in the void. Comments (13)I would lose the wooden counter top and pull out larder. Put the hob next door but one to the sink with an extractor above. This will break up the run of wall units. Also think about when you are cooking pasta, filling up a saucepan with water and then draining it. You don't need to cross the room. Where you going to put bin, dishwasher and microwave? I would agree you need more drawers. I love my new pan drawers they hold alot. But my pull out larder does not and things fall down the back all the time. Also when you are taking something out of the oven, where are you going to put it? I never understand why designers put oven and fridges next to one another....See More- 10 years ago

Your kitchen looks amazing so far!
I noticed you have already started adding some colours. You have neutral colours so adding red, blue, yellow, orange could go definitely. If I was in your case I would pick one or two colours and add some ornaments, furniture pieces.
