Hi all, We have this fireplace and want to make it like the second picture so we can fit a range cooker underneath.
The house is 150 years old and we think there's remnants of an old fireplace under these bricks. Through the removed brick we found loose rubble. We removed that and can see the outside wall which is flint.
It looks like the red bricks were a fascia built over what was there and it seems that they stop at the ceiling.
In the room above there is a thinner and shallower chimney breast without a fireplace.
Does anyone have experience of these and know where we begin please?
I'd really appreciate any advice,
Becki
