Currently buying a new House from a National Builder in North Cheshire and will be putting wooden floors throughout once I get the keys. I also don't want carpet on the Stairs - but the standard, cheap MDF/Softwood Staircase the Builder installs will not be a good enough quality to do anything serious with - you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear! I'm ideally looking for an Oak and Glass set-up - So ... Rip and Replace, some form of cladding ... suggestions, experiences, ideas, etc gratefully received.
