Hello Andrew, I agree with Jessica, it sounds like you have made a good choice there. To give you another thought - I would always aim for the same flooring as far as possible. The main reason is that when you have doors ajar, the eye is likely to note any change in floor covering at the threshold. This can subconsciously make you think the space is smaller than it is. However, if the flooring is the same and there is no carpet bar, leaving an uninterrupted clear threshold, the eye just travels and assumes more space than there actually is. This may or may not matter in the case of your flat but in my experience clients generally favour more space, more light and an easier flow. So, while you could easily use different shades for the walls, I would recommend the same carpet throughout on the floor.

Hi Laura, Going along the lines of other suggestions, you could add some interest by using a trim down the leading edge of the curtains. Use the neutral green as the main fabric and then a trim like this... https://www.fabricsandpapers.com/8509-lezarde-gimp-fuchsia It would create interest, and tie in the chair to the room. Thanks so much everyone for your advice I really appreciate your replies. T. Willow I love that herringbone pattern too I love herringbone. I should probably have said we have 4 children under 7 so if we are going with wool needs to be practical as poss to hide stains which we thought stripe might manage. Daisy do you mind me asking what colour paint you have on the walls with this carpet? We have Dimity in master and it’s far too brown. Thanks.
