Whether it's morning, afternoon or evening, after being full body tackled by the dog, I immediately go to my bedroom and change into pj's. I've done this since I was a young teenager (over 25 years ago). I never wear 'outside clothes' inside unless I'm imminently expecting guests!

Enjoy seeing them immensely , a few tips: a large expandable table (ours expands twice) cheap bed linen which washes and dries quickly travel cot and bed settee,/ futon. As well as back up inflatable beds from the camping world. large beautiful vintages chests and cupboards for toys, art stuff etc a selection on the current Disney films and music (frozen, obviously) labelled doors for the forgetful elder. waterproof sheets (that don't look like this) spare toothbrushes, toiletries, Calpol, medicines, flannels and wipes. loads of biscuits. a huge snack basket. extra chairs, tables (garden ones are fine) and cloths (waterproof ones are good) in attractive colours. ask late sleepers to move upstairs and hide your best whisky! don't bother to downsize lol

Thank you so much for taking the time to do these detailed plans. You have certainly come up with some ideas that we had not thought about. In particular we wouldn't have thought about having a small sofa against that wall (we had thought the tv would be good here) but actually I think it feels nice to be facing the other way. I also like the piano and the bookcase being at the entrance and feels this would help separate the kitchen from the family room area and also be that I can hear my daughter play whilst I cook and pop round the corner to see her. We have only just created that large opening for the window as wanted as much sun in as possible (and in fact have just had it amended to make it larger so it didn't look so obviously like a garage conversion to us) - so I wouldn't be keen on the second idea of reducing the window size for the piano - but yes you are absolutely correct and we should have thought about furniture placement more than we did as the 15cm of wall to the left of the window has prevented me from running a nice long floor to ceiling bookcase along that wall which is disappointing - but still other areas to put it in. Luckily I can carry out your furniture arrangement as I placed 3 tv points so will see how it feels when we finally get finished. Thank you so much for these plans and the effort to achieve them!

I’m at my desk in the family room and my husband has set up office in the dining room. Teenage son is studying in his bedroom and daughter is home schooling between my husband and I - depending on who has meetings etc and is most available to help. She’s using an ottoman for a desk with footstool to sit on when with me and is at the opposite end of the dining room table when she’s with her dad. My top tip is to clear all work/study/school stuff away at the end of every day to give us our home back again. I put my laptop etc into my rucksack and stash that away in the cupboard and my husband and daughter have a drawer each that I cleared out in the dining room sideboard at the start of lockdown, for all their school and work stuff. When I’m finished working, I open the windows to let all the work vibes out, light a lovely smelling candle and I’m home.
