Hi Lauren, Reading this I think you don't love it yet because there is too much contracts between the dark sofa and the light wall. Paint the wall, don't worry about light- that is a massive window. Don't worry about it feeling smaller - it won't I also agreed that the curtains need to be on a wider pole or the window should be dressed with an additional something (wood slatted blind?)

Dear Jill, Buying a property is a serious financial commitment. I would not hesitate to get a quote or even several preferably from the local tradesmen. You need to factor in the costs associated with these or any other works you intend to do outside or inside the house. This house is very impressive with lots of character. I love the symmetry of it, entrance, large windows and overall proportion. I would rather restore and preserve the original features than paint over. It might cost more to implement but should pay off in terms of property value. Wishing you very best with this or other home you choose. Victoria

We have a variety of hadle suppliers, but one of our favourite for "cup & knob" in a variety of lovely finishes is Crofts & Assinder - crofts.co.uk - a really great, British company with some lovely designs and finishes. Have a browse of the website and see if any are close to what you seek. If you give me an idea of which is the style you particularly like, happy to try and help. Absolutely, I could definitely leave the sink unit alone. Are you suggesting the walls could be violet? And re buying things, I know. I get all excited and buy beautiful, dirt cheap things on a whim. I currently have two farmhouse kitchen tables ( which were both from freecycle), a red melamine-topped 60s one (£20) and am haggling over an ercol one ( super expensive at £48). I will have to start releasing them back into the wild soon. The cameos were £6 for the pair and they are adorable.
