HELP!!! Need color suggestions, quick!

We have a deadline to move in next week and my initial paint colors for the kitchen failed BIG once the backsplash started to go up. I need HELP! Here is the situation. Originally I started with the lightest gray in the pic, however, it seemed too light and washed out. I thought it needed "warmth" and put a sample of the tan / gray on top. That turned out completely wrong. What can I try next?The floors are dark wood, cabinets are cream / off white, subway tile is marble, island dark like the floor. We have lots of northern light. The rest of the house is in shades of "cool" grays. I see the problem in the kitchen is trying to mix warm colors with cools. Unfortunately the cabinets are the color they are. I wasn't expecting them to be so creamy. ALL opinions welcomed!! THANK YOU!

It looks to me like your lighting is making the upper cabinets look much more yellow than the lower cabs. Have you considered switching light bulbs? I would experiment a little with the lighting before deciding on the wall paint. Based on your images, the darker paint shade looks better.

If you're looking for a neutral try Sherwin Williams "grayish" an alternative would be using a half strength of the color in an adjoining family or living room.

Are the upper cabinets really that 'creamy' (yellowy) compared to the lower cabinets? the photo make it look like those are very different. I'd take a really close look at the backsplash and pull a gray from that.

Presuming you are keeping the colour scheme the same anything from a Black, Slate or Silver Plush at the top end to more affordable Santa Cruz Boardwalk if you want more than one colour and more affordable.

Can’t say that I like it that much either but that’s just personal choice. As Laura suggested, paint the samples on paper or cardboard at least A4size and at least two coats to give a true indication of the colour. Move them around the room at different times of day to see how light and shadow affects the colour. I usually keep a roll of lining paper for this very purpose! Also might be an idea to place each sample with the kitchen unit doors, worktop, flooring, fabric and accessories, altogether if poss, then take photos. That way you’ll have a mood board with each colour. Personally, I would stick with a light colour all round as I think there’s a lot going on all ready with it being a kitchen and busy area. But ultimately it’s your home, so go with what you love.

I’d go for an art deco look. Navy blue, gold, bronze, cream, warm grey and pink. -Change the bath panel. Wood panelling painted dark blue. - Gold/grey/cream marble effect vinyl wrap over the top of the toilet/sink unit. - Paint sides of unit and doors in dark blue. switch out the handles to something modern in gold/bronze/rose gold. - Paint over the border tiles with a bronze/coppery tile paint - Change the bin. If it won’t break the bank, I’d switch out the taps and showerhead to go with the theme.

What is going on with the little narrow cabinets inches away from your cooktop? That is not designed well Im afraid nor is the backsplash "feature" behind the cooktop. Have you considered using a white for your wall color?

I see you already tried a light grey from the backsplash and I agree, it makes the cabinets creamier. I think the warm grey is better, but still not quite right. I think your kitchen may be perfect to paint in a white tone. I know suggesting white may seem a little boring, but I think the rest of you kitchen is lovely and it will both show case the kitchen and perhaps tone down the creaminess.

Don't know what colors you tried, but I would try Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige. It goes with most everything.

I would look to a color other than gray and as for those litle cabinets they are a fire hazard and should be removed they actually look silly .No beige IMO.

Beautiful kitchen, congrats!

Popular Gray SW is a versatile warm gray and would be my choice. It may be lighter than what you seek however.

Agreeable Gray SW or Reverve Pewter BM would be other warm gray choices on the darker side.

Sorry, I would have your new cabinets spray painted white. You will never be happy with them! The colors clash. Then you can paint the walls any color, even a color other than grey. I know, more money and more time. But...you plan on living in the house, how long?

IMHO, staying exclusively to neutrals is boring and over done. I would be looking at a deep, warm, maybe darker or more saturated gray (darker than the darkest gray in the backsplash)...toward a slate color. BTW, I also like the idea of using white and don't think the other suggestions are wrong.

So much light colour... I'd go DARK GRAY on walls to stand out. All the white/cream trim keeps it from being heavy.

BM Muslin. Any kind of blue will draw out the yellow in your cabinets.
