What is missing???
Comments (41)Forzaitalia thanks. Got a fuzzy feeling from that comment. Where are the emoticons, they were needed here! Houzz Team????? Yes I have an appointment with Hilary's for blinds for the window. StJamesdesign, hmmmm wooden floor, I might consider that. I'm scared what will become of the cream carpet but then I'll leave til it's grubby and if I have to change it, wooden floor is the first option. Ash thanks for that runner and dish idea. I will definitely add that ;)...See MoreWhat's missing in this kitchen?
Comments (21)I don't think colour is the issue, it's tone that is lacking. Convert the image to black and white and it will look a bit insipid. The bank of cupboards where the fridge is would have benefited form being a dark colour, the pendants are nice but need to be much lower and the wall cupboards look a little high with gaps. I actually think the rug works well and would add more things with character. The splash back would have been more dramatic if perhaps teal tiles were used instead of glass....See MoreKitchen looks really stark! What's missing?!
Comments (5)Hi, I don't think your units and worktop are all that bad, although they do not live to the mainstream style and trends of kitchen, and so you probably don't view it as nice. Your kitchen is flooded with plentiful of natural light. I think the main issue lies with the sharp contrast between the dark floor and light walls which needs to be softened using a different colour- a warm grey, muted green or a taupe grey Cum brown colour. You could then accessories using a colour of your choice, maybe lime green and yellows or oranges and reds. A patterned rug, some herb plants, a vase of flowers, a wall clock (you could make a feature of it), maybe some blinds if you want added privacy- could all contribute to a homely, welcoming kitchen. It just requires a new lick of paint and you to inject some personality. I will try to link some examples. All the best...See MoreWhat is my kitchen missing?
Comments (18)Wow, thankyou so much everyone for all your very helpful comments! Its given me lots of ideas and things to think about - will look into getting some colourful blinds, and am now thinking about getting that left wall painted another colour - Im thinking maybe a navy or teal....Also thinking of getting rid of the table and replacing it with a welsh dresser, again painted a different colour. Oh, yes, will replace the clock with a glass splashback (am even wondering about clear glass over a wall decal???) Oh, and the extractor fan...yeah, Ive had one before and never switched it on. So i didnt bother this time. Open windows work for me, beehives notwithstanding ;-)...See More- 10 years ago
