What is my kitchen missing?
Ive wondered about a splashback above the hob, but Im not sure what would work. It probably needs more pattern, but Im not mad about tiles.....maybe a bigger rug? (but what would work in a kitchen with lots of food dropping/young children etc)
So, Im looking for honest appraisals - what works and what doesnt work/need moving/need adding etc?
Thanks!

It's really lovely, and looking at the Iroko I think it needs a shot of colour to bring out the purple tones of that. Looking at the tablecloth, the olives and mustards look fabulous, I would consider painting one wall one of these colours, probably the wall behind the table. @colourtutor

It's a lovely kitchen. Is that a boiler on the wall? If so did you not consider hiding it in one of the wall cupboards? Definitely get a splashback behind that hob. Once you get grease splashed on the wall you'll regret not doing so. You could add some colour in the splashback. Have a glass one and have it sprayed (they don't cost a fortune) or even add a picture on it.

thee are a few missing ITEMS i have noticed !
1) KITCHEN HOB SPLASH BACK
2)EXTRACTOR FAN WHICH SHOULD BE ABOVE THE COOK HOB AND SPLASH PANEL
3)THE WALL CABINET NEXT TO THE BOILER LOOKS LIKE YOU PROBABLY HAVE PROBLEMS OPENING 1 DOOR , A SINGLE DOOR CABINET WOULD HAVE WORKED BETTER OR EVEN A CORNER CABINET / WALL CABINET TO HIDE YOUR BOILER
4) BLINDS COULD HELP WITH THE FINISHING TOUCHES AND GIVE YOU PRIVACY
5) INSTEAD OF THE DINNING TABLE A STREIGHT BREAKFAST BAR ALONG THE WALL WITH STOOLS

I think extractor fans are a personal choice. Some have them, some don't. The hob is situated inbetween 2 windows that I presume open to ventilate. The hob isn't gas so won't blow out if a draught comes through the window. Extracted fans are not compulsory.

what is going to happen when the steam and extracts come out of the cooking pot going to go ? unless they want yellow stain all over the ceiling!!!!!!! over a very less period of time!!!!!
and what about the smell ( yes they do have windows but what going to happens when there is heavy rain or wind or even a bee hive ? they can t leave the window open can they ,
i know a extractor fan is placed over the cooker for a reason is the catch extracts from your cooking pot and it extracts it out !!!!!
- 8 years agoLovely kitchen. I would put your cereal into pretty containers and chose a colourful hob splash back. Also don’t personally think the clock and oil cloth work with the rug. Apart from that I love all of it :)

Out of interest are most boilers not deeper than a normal wall cupboard......and if this is the case, what type of unit would you use to hide the boiler? - 8 years ago
Bespoke I.R. UK, I'm sure we can all 'hear' you loud and clear without you shouting and exclaiming so much, haha.
- 8 years agoWindow blinds, roller blinds are practical in the kitchen and would take the bare look off also you could introduce colour or pattern in this way; and if you stored the cereal boxes lower down ( another shelf below the others?) then when the kids get a bit older they can reach them to get their own breakfast on the weekends: you’ll be glad of the extra time before getting up. We also keep cups and bowls on lowest shelves in the upper kitchen cabinets now for this reason.

As others have suggested we heard you the first time with your post in upper case. As I purely said it is not compulsory. I don't have one at home and have never had the problems you suggest. If you want one, then have one but there really is no place for such rudeness on here. If our customers insist they don't want one who are we to insist. You cannot force them!

all i did was answer the customer question , what is missing , i am sooo sorry if i made you fell out place or if i was rude im sorry ,,
people like my self are passionate in every think we do , so when we are right, we like to put are point across , some times it does come out sounding rude, we don t mean to be rude, so if i shouted or sounded angry , its just me being passionate and trying to get my point across
im sorry for being passionate
- 8 years agoI think it's lovely. just missing a little colour. a blind in an interesting fabric or colour would do the trick.
- 8 years agoI think a wall painted in a nice bright colour you like would go a long way to giving the room more personality! Your choices so far are lovely! I think it's a nice kitchen x
- 8 years agoOh I love a good argument.
I think the kitchen is lovely, but I am wondering how we used to manage without extractors. I didn't have one until they became fashionable 20 years ago, and while I now can't imagine planning a kitchen without one I didn't feel the need for one when I didn't have one. Remember the old cookers with the high level grills? No extractors then!
A nice olive green colour on the wall by the table, as I think somebody else suggested, and a different clock. But it's a lovely kitchen. - 8 years ago
Hi - some lovely colour features here. I'd echo the comment about having a feature wall with a pop of colour on it to lift the room.
Also I'd definitely consider getting an extractor if you do a lot of family cooking to get rid of smells and smoke.
Hope all goes well!

Definitely get a splashback behind that hob and instead of a dining table a breakfast bar would look good
