Gates and Fences UK thank you so much for your advice, in the end I've taken it and today I've ordered Red Cedar Cladding and I'm going to treat it with cedar oil as you suggested. I think having to coat it yearly will be well worth the effort to have the beauty of Cedar as opposed to the practicality of UPVC Cladding.

Fyntons/Hatches are basically selling on the contract for significant profit...if they ordered those parts again for you it would cost them next to nothing. Being a Covid issue is absolute nonsense...every other business involved in building and renovation is booming since Covid. And how strange to set up an identical business right in the middle of lockdown! Saw an opportunity to run with the money and start again.

If the lead is in good condition you should be able to get a lead restorer like this one:- https://www.roofinglines.co.uk/product/lead-sheet-restorer-g1-1l Make sure - if you don’t go for this one, that you check if it’s suitable for lead under 50yrs old. If your house is older (which I’m sure it’s not) then there is a different one you need. Not sure about painting the front tiles though - depends if they are concrete and if they are just dirty or already have a dark stain on them? There are concrete stains but a lighter colour wouldn’t work over a dark one of course, and you would need to clean them thoroughly beforehand. Have you priced to have them replaced?

P.s. I would measure the roofing tiles too given half a chance. So you can assure yourself all colours on the exterior work well together. (Even if a roof tile looks grey to you, it still belongs to one of those hue families,,,,why fight with it when you can harmonise?) 🤓
