Help! What colour should I paint my render????
Comments (5)I think from Sandtex the Ivory Stone would probably be my choice. Cornish Cream is very very pure cream, too much so for my tastes. Illustrated White, Sandstone or Mid Stone are less cream but would probably do well with the patio. I think, though, most of the cream and the more yellow stone colours would look great, and you don't need to fret about choosing the right one. Also, it's only paint, and a single story extension is very little trouble to repaint if you later feel you've got it wrong or just want a change. Comments (2)I know exactly what you mean! We are building a house and am trying not to have dark grey, I loved a khaki greenly grey colour but unfortunately it won't sit as well with the other materials which are basically black timber cladding and white render...so I'm going with black aluclad Windows. I must admit the plans look good with them so I'm trying to convince myself they aren't like dark grey and won't become the next 'rosewood' window fad! I received an expensive window quote today where I was told black isn't a standard colour and costs 7% more than if I chosen dark grey!...See MoreExterior makeover - render and window frame colour advice
Comments (36)That colour was f&b stony ground which is actually red based but I think must have some green in, I thought it would work with the terracotta tiles. Something like the lighter shaded white may also work although colours are normally a couple of shades lighter on the exterior. The previous owners of our house painted it farrows cream, I swear it gets more yellow each day! I don’t know anything about the render tbh but I don’t think it needs any maintenance for 20-30 years hence the initial application cost is dearer. I’ve attached this link as I’ve come across a few similar comments (but as I say I don’t know anything about the render and you’re always going to get negative reviews of things). It might be worth creating a separate post on traditional versus through coloured render if you have any concerns? http://www.ebuild.co.uk/topic/15160-traditional-render-v-k-rend/...See MoreHelp with colour for exterior render and new front door.....
Comments (16)Thank you Colorhappy, I was secretly hoping you would comment as you clearly know all about colour, something I definitely struggle with a little. I think your suggestion of a stone colour for the render and a green blue for the doors would look lovely, and I love the idea of it relating to the greenery in the garden. Do you have any suggestions for a stone colour? I have looked at F&B for the green/blue, they have a paint actually named green/blue, but I am not sure if this is too much of a literal interpretation of your advice :-) I also like the oval room blue too, do you think this could work? I love Stiffkey blue, but not sure if this is too rich/deep a colour and would end up looking dark? The front of the house faces north but still gets lots of great light, the house is elevated somewhat so it is never in shadow if that makes any difference to our choice of colour?...See MoreG Arnold
