Help with render colour please
Comments (20)They are sliding. We deliberated at length. Our architect was always in favoir of sliding. They felt they were more contemporary in look but the main reason was that most of the year they are closed and so we had less panels and less frame with the sliding. I am so glad we went with their advice because we get such a lovely lot of light and connection with the garden with fewer panels and frame. The sliding mechanism works beautifully and there is lots of light. When open they take up no space in the garden. The only downside is on a massively sunny day when you may get the urge to sling doors right back and open like bifold but you have to remember that there is usually then still the width of the stack of doors at the end and for us over our width of opening and with the doors we chose that would have meant 5 bifold doors stacked up. At least when our sliding are open you can still see through the glass of the end panel. Ours slide 2 over one so 2/3 is open. And they can slide to either end. Hope that helps....See MoreHelp, what colour windows and render?
Comments (33)£800,000 in debt after making sure they had taken all the money they could no doubt. The Dyes could easily solve your letterbox and sealed unit issue if they were interested in doing the right thing, as they only place these orders with another company in Lithuania, who are still the same supplier for Hatches. Fyntons/Hatches are basically selling on the contract for significant profit...if they ordered those parts again for you it would cost them next to nothing. Being a Covid issue is absolute nonsense...every other business involved in building and renovation is booming since Covid. And how strange to set up an identical business right in the middle of lockdown! Saw an opportunity to run with the money and start again....See MoreWorried about a hotchpotch house! Comments (2)You could consider matching the existing white render to whatever is used on your new extension. If you chose timber cladding, I could suggest something lighter, maybe a larch/Douglas fir/oak(/Marley board as suggested - as budget allows) with a protective UV oil coating (most people do not like the weathered timber look). You could then wrap this cladding over the existing area of white render across the corner and wrapping the garage also. This would give a very modern look that ties the house together, and given the area of the garage is actually fairly small (once the garage door is discounted) the cost would be minimal. If you are set of replacing the windows, ensure you pain the garage door the same colour. This is a really cheap change but again will help tie all together. However, for the cheapest option, just using white render on the extension, will also work. This negates the requirement to over-clad perfectly serviceable finishes on the rest of the house. N.B. Any changes to the front of the house may require a re-submission to the council for amendments....See MoreWhere to render, where to clad
Comments (2)Flat rooms always leak in the end so I'd say change it for a pitched room, maybe a metal roof with a shallow pitch rather then a full tile roof? claddig down the right side could look good, wither in wood or a metal. the main issue for me is the rather opressive nature to the extention and the front door. it doesn't look very welcoming at all, maybe you could add a porch or render it in a different colour to the rest? make it a grander statement around the door and change the garage door for somthing with some small windows in at the top? I do 3d Digital modeling for exteriors so if you want help I can create a digital model remotely so you can see what it would look like and play with options before you do anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkw45EnYYfk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4ALhPgqHSY Let me know if you need any help....See MoreSam
