That's a lovely sized bathroom ffawnog! You're very lucky! We would suggest maybe thinking again about the radiator you have in there. We love the more traditionally styled column rads like that, but maybe getting a slimline one that is a little taller may be a solution. Why do people like radiators? They take up space, mess up the look of a room, leak and creak, need a boiler and maintenance, plus they make decorating the wall really tricky. If you need to heat your house but don't want the cluttered 'radiator' look, then check out www.discreteheat.com... (water or electric skirting board heating). Modern passive and super-insulated solar dwellings do not need a 'heating system' - they cost very little to run and don't even need a wood burner, - which would very quickly cause overheating! (Note: Biomass fuel is not carbon neutral; not until you have fully grown a replacement ). Other choices are underfloor heating which can be water or electric based. Another option is infra-red heating www.infraredcompany.com and www.herschel-infrared.co.uk, but it would be healthier all round if we started to evolve faster and stopped thinking like cavemen/womem. The way forward is insulation and the reduction of energy use, not radiators and fossil fuels.

Hello :) We have now plastered and painted first coat of white paint.. now deciding on the type of tiles.. we like the idea of Moroccon style tiles on the floor.. but as the bathroom is pretty narrow.. having a feature on the wall is a bit akward.. Our bathtub will be on the right and toilet under the window (same position as old layout) as all plumbing is already there. Unsure whether to have a concealed cistern toilet unit which can make the area look neater.. But I can't seem to find a good quality looking concealed unit (floor to under window measurement 98cm) width available is 50cm..or should i just go for a standard normal toilet. On the right after the bathtub we will have space for a double vanity sink unit.. opposite wall have a vertical stainless steel radiator... Unsure whether to go for a towel warmer or a vertical radiator? The bathroom will not have underfloor heating. Room dimensions are (length 335cm width 125cm) Any design ideas etc will be appreciated. We installed radiator covers in a Georgian house decorated in a traditional style. They covered modern, flat radiators and without doubt were a vast visual improvement. The space within the cover will get considerably hotter than the room so conventional thermostatic valves are no good. We used valves that had a heat sensor in the room not within the cover. I recall the covers were made from a fairly heavy duty MDF and whilst they did get quite hot they never warped. Using radiator covers probably means it takes longer to heat a room to a comfortable temperature but we didn’t notice an increase in fuel bills possibly because we often used open fires in the winter. Finally, the covers provided very useful shelf space (for appropriate objects!). Georgian houses don’t have window sills.
