The wall space above our TV looks too bare. Any suggestions- thinking either shallow floating shelves or wall art but any ideas would be appreciated!

Comments (33)Wow your ceiling must be really, really low then ? Most extractors have to have a gap between 650mm to 760mm between the bottom of them and the hob part of the cooker - so in your case the lid should have clearance even if set at standard height, even if it’s an over depth appliance. What height is the ceiling ? Is the cooker going right into the corner ? Might be useful to have it 150mm from the corner,so you have a small clearance for pan handles on the left. Comments (5)You could go for another plant (real or good fake) for top shelf above TV to soften and pull the alcoves together. I would agree with Kate that both walls just need some artwork, maybe smaller ones above the sofa and a large piece for the blank wall....See MoreLiving room with little wall space

Comments (3)Choosing art is a very personal thing. I have a couple of generic suggestions that would work in the space - a large mirror in a nice frame or a gallery wall with black and white photos of family and friends in random frames purchased from charity/second hand shops. An easy art project would be buying a large canvas, taping a chevron pattern on it and painting it black, white and gold (or alternative colours to suit)....See More

7 years agoYou can hang something above the TV. It won't take away the attention from the screen when you're watching TV, but it will add interest to the wall when the TV is off.
I think that the lack of visible window dressing makes it feel extra bare now. I think that hanging the TV higher up the wall will look odd. You'd need a taller piece of furniture under it to keep the visual connection.
As mentioned, painting the wall will be a good option too.
