I love your sofas, exactly what I wanted but fear of the other half's childlike qualities when it comes to eating stopped me in my tracks. ;)

Personally, I really like bright/warm yellows and greys with teal but perhaps in this situation yellow won't work.

When you say white brick tiles, do you mean for the living room area? I wouldn't go for that as it will make it feel cold. There is a lot of white and straight lines in there, I reckon a warm but mild colour pallet will work wonders - exactly as suggested above; greys, lavenders, etc.

I might even consider a bit of geometry for inspiration - black and white cushions (maybe rectangular) for the sofa, a nice armchair with a sheepskin throw in white or cream and a grey throw for the sofa. A large neutral rug and accessories to add pops of colour.

I think this will tie in nicely with the kitchen if you're looking to use a similar style throughout the whole space.

Otherwise, maybe you could consider separating the two areas in to two completely different styles. We have a lovely studio apartment so in a similar situation and I've found some great ideas online on how to use furniture/decor to separate different areas in open plan homes.

It's all looking great- personally I would be looking to add some pattern- I would be thinking either a rug to anchor the living furniture to or a geometric print wall paper

Michelle, thanks for the suggestions. I'd originally been keen on a traditional red brick slate but having seen examples of white spaces in open lounges I'm keen to keep that spacey feeling. I hadn't realised that the brick effect came in a wallpaper format. Does it still look authentic? I had intended to use lighting to highlight the brick edges. Would this till work with the wallpaper version?

Also, my wife and I were delighted that you suggested the geometric wallpaper. We've actually already bought the same wallpaper for our second bedroom :-)

With regards to the tones you suggested. Would you simply paint the outside and inner walls of the recessed dining area? Leave the non brick wall entirely white given a TV will be wall mounted on it to break it up anyway?

Hi. Is it a slight industrial look you're after? I wouldn't normally make a feature of a long wall but I think it would be an idea to give it some texture to break it up but keeping it light. I like the G&G wallpaper Michelle posted. Or I personally love concrete effect plaster. I'm not sure if its a sideboard shown on your plan but would go for something in wood. For the TV wall maybe consider this vinyl wallpaper by Osborne and little as shown in the pic which looks slightly 3D. I'd add an arc lamp somewhere in the bottom corner for over the dining table and to zone that area. For accent colours for accessories I'd look at orange and copper. Also love the sheepskin idea for texture

Yes, we originally thought about a slightly industrial look without going overboard. Hence the white brick instead of the red brick. The coffee table is reclaimed wood.

We also seen a few industrial type units we were considering along the long wall.

I’m glad you like the suggestions.

With regards to the brick wallpaper I think going for the
white will definitely give your space a more light and airy feel and make it
look really on trend.

The wallpaper is obviously a flat print as opposed to the
real 3 dimensional look you would get from brick tiles, however you can see
from the picture how the print of the bricks shows interesting depth and
shadows to achieve that more authentic look. I think using lighting against the
wallpaper would still highlight the realistic looking shadows in the
wallpaper, to give you a striking atmospheric look. Graham and Green do have a
really good returns policy so it might be worth ordering some wallpaper to see how it
looks in the space, with the option to return it if you’re not happy with the
effect.

Great news about the wallpaper, its definitely one of my
favourites and for a bedroom I think it will look fantastic.

I think for a more subtle pop of colour that draws the eye,
painting just the recesses of your dining area will work well to frame and zone
that function in the space, giving it its own identity to also break up the open planned
space. Leaving the TV wall white will add bigger emphasis on the brick paper
making that the real feature of the space which I think will work really well in your
space, especially with the other pops of colour in your sofa.

Have you came across any 3D texture wallpaper that is similiar but has depth?

If you want physical texture to the wallpaper then there are some available that are embossed. However often with these wallpapers you loose the realistic look of the brickwork print for the physical texture.

Here is an example of what I mean from a supplier called 'I want wallpaper':

I would suggest that you try to order samples of any potential wallpaper choices so you can test how this looks in the room and really get to see the final finish as this can be difficult to judge from a screen.

Personally I think the print alone will create a fantastic look, without the need for the physical texture.

On another note does anyone have any suggestions of a dining table and chairs that would look good in the enclave?

Wasn't sure whether to go oak with white chairs or dark wood with grey chairs.
