Hi albricci,

Is it just this space you are planning on updating? And are you keeping the brown cupboards and wall tiles?

Hi albricci,

You can really transform a sofa by introducing different
accent colours and patterns through decorative cushions. Your pinkish-purple
sofa will work perfectly with pops of fresh greens and soft blues. Echo these
colours within other accessories around the space such as groups of glass vases
and ornaments to create a cohesive flow.

If you are open to painting your wooden desk area and wall
panelling, you could try a contemporary grey tone such as Dulux Night Jewels 4
in a durable Eggshell finish (being sure to sand and prime the surface before
painting). For the wall colours you could retain a fresh crisp Absolute White
or a blush tone such as Dulux Soft Montelimar 4. Although quite a typically
feminine colour, the grey tones will balance this and offer a warm and inviting
scheme.

Advice on how to keep brown leather sofa contemporary
Q

Hi. What colour are your ŵalls re the curtains? I do agree with others that I find a shade of blue works best with brown although clearly many colours do. A dusky pink is also very nice (has to be the right shade though!) if you were to mix it with lighter Browns and soft whites. How contemporary is the rest of the house? Putting down a cowhide rug for example would immediately make it look contemporary. If you went with a rug in shades of browns with some white it would also create a slight contrast between floor and sofa. The sofa looks quite contemporary anyway so would think more about the accessories.

After having spent $2500 AU on Italian semi analine leather couch - ummm, never doing that again! Hubby has a high body temperature - him, hot AU summers and analine leather. Not a good mix... 5yrs later cracking in seat and back cushion leather. 8 years later , now has blanket over back and seat cushions as back cushion actually cracked and ripped, both seat cushions no longer soft to sit on. In short, not our best purchase and we don't even have kids! As our only lounge seating it was in every day use,. When canvasing re covering were advised analine not a good choice for every day use. How else do you use a couch in a lounge room, except every day? ! Sorry to rain on your parade but hope your purchase is more successful than ours.

Leather Sofa Restoration - Advice Needed

Hi,I have two leather sofas that require restoration & tlc. My sister was getting rid of them and I couldn't resist having a go at restoring them. The problem is I'm not quite sure how to fix them. The leather is patchy. In some its light brown and other places are dark chocolate colour (large patch area's of both colours). When I used leather cleaner, the lighter brown patches peel to reveal the darker colour. The peel is sort of like eraser shavings. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? And how do I get them back to one shade (without damaging them)? It's almost like a film coating peeling off, but it's painstaking slow peeling. If anyone can help, it's would be much appreciated. Thanks

Perhaps you should play not only with basic colours of furniture and walls, but even with colour of light by means of curtains. Or you are not going to change anything in window interior?
