Comments (77)I have always been attracted to the Carmel-by-the-Sea houses designed by Comstock...the interiors are often decorated casually, with comfy sofas, chairs, maple & cherry furniture and nature-inspired art and accessories. Big fantasy. In real life, we are retired on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and live in a 1200 sq.ft. condo one block off a large town's Main St. and two miles from any beach. Except for the building and location, we have the rest...not sure if our decor is English casual, English coastal or ???, but I wouldn't change it, except to buy better quality sofa and chairs....See Morehow to change the look of these stairs and hand rail
Comments (4)How much are you able/ prepared to do on the stairs? You could have the steps re-tiled, or carpeted, laid with wood and a carpet runner, and you could install a new handrail if you have a larger budget. However, if you want to work with what you've got, I would focus on the tiles. I don't think the handrail itself is a problem- it could do with a lick of paint, but the tiles are a little dated. You can paint floor tiles but you'd need to be very careful to make sure that they were done safely to avoid slips on the stairs. Alternatively, you could have a stair runner fitted, to cover up most of the tiles, and then put some colourful artwork on the wall at the back to draw the eye upwards and away from the tiles. I hope it goes well- post us some pics when you've finished. Best wishes, Kate www.TheHomeDesignSchool.com...See MoreRoom looking too grey?
Comments (90)I personally prefer that light and table option, the light adds a lot of warmth with the table and I prefer the design which sits well with the art although both are lovely. Have you looked at the mad men rug in concrete jungle (which has brown tones on my screen!)? The hydrangea might also be nice in blush? There are lots of brass ornaments around ATM for the table or bookcase too...See Morejtemm
