TV above Fireplace - solving the neck ache! We would recommend above the Fireplace, but with a Picture Frame or better still converted into a Mirror TV. Most Lounges centre around the Fireplace, so it seems obvious to put it there for easy viewing - but they, by definition, are always mounted TOO HIGH ... We combine this "picture frame look" with the connection of an AppleTV to display high resolution paintings or photos on the screen when they're not using it as a TV. Mirror TV If you have the budget we offer a special TV mirror bonding service, which is much less expensive than dedicated "MirrorTVs". We bond a special swiss manufactured glass onto the face of the TV, which behaves like a mirror when the TV is turned off. There are two finishes - "antique mirror" which is quite dark when the TV is turned off, but offers an excellent low amount of reflectivity when the TV is turned on (see picture below). The alternative is our "modern mirror" glass which is almost the same as a real mirror, but relatively reflective, so requires the lighting in the room to be dimmed when viewing the TV.

Hi, Creating a selection of zones may work best for you in this situation. Im assuming you want to create the whole area as a living space, and there is no need to use any of it for dining purposes. If I am correct in thinking this I would create a television family area where you were suggesting putting the desk. That part of the room could almost be made separate due to the dimensions and alcove. When considering seating around the fireplace , you must consider the traffic flow coming into the room and around the room. You want the expanse of space to open up as you walk in, therefore I agree with Shoshielias with a curved sofa, or even some smaller double sofas obviously depending on the number you wish to use the room for. These smaller sofas could be positioned opposite one another with a small coffee table in between so you are greeted by the view of the fireplace as you enter the room. As you have a real fireplace I am sure it would make a beautiful focal point. You then have some space to play with nearer the patio doors (which you don't want to block due to access points). For that reason if you require more seating you can have that along the wall that the fire lies along or even have the desk placed there. With mood lighting it can help create these distinct areas, and once again when the fire is lit it will create great atmosphere. Yes, “The Frame“ has only just been launched in the UK! I believe that TV cosmetics will improve over the next two years. With the thin frames and improved lightness of the latest TV‘s, there is greater ease of fitting custom frames around them. Many TV manufacturers are now also offering beautiful screensavers and if not, it‘s easy to add an AppleTV or another Streaming device to display images on the screen. The icing on the cake is a mirror TV and over the past three years we have perfected the process of bonding a special mirror glass directly onto the leading brands of TV‘s at about 60% of the cost of dedicated MirrorTVs. The advantage of this approach is that we can use the most current and advanced model of TV‘s, whilst the dedicated MirrorTV typically lags behind, using year old+ models.

I don’t know much about colour but looking at the room the first thing I thought was what awful bright light there was taking over the room. Think it would look miles better immediately with floor and table lamps. I’d only be switching the down lighters on when I’m cleaning up in that room or if I was in there in the daytime. It is a lounge rather than workspace after all.
