Hello @The Picture House. Thank you! Just to touch on your point, I don't agree at all really. I think most people want to envision the property with themselves living in it, how they want to see the home. When I talked about what I look for, it was from a personal viewpoint. I don't need to see anything added to see if the place is worth something. (Not financial) I'm talking structural and aesthetics. The "bones" of the place, if you like. Also potential has nothing to do with clean, tidy, or adding a few objects, just reading your pointers. Potential isn't styling, it has to do with architectural details and the capacity for renovation or restructuring. If that is what is sought. For that you need an eye for these details and there are a lot of people who are very clued up and interested in this area. Talking from experience that is. I think the problem with selling, is knowing your market and who you're selling to. Knowing your property and how to market it (at the time) to its fullest potential. Marketing your property for who you want to sell it to. So whoever it is can see what they can add- if at all! However, what a client is looking for from their purchase will largely dictate the type of property they seek. Interestingly some "interior designed" property renovated for sale are some of the worst examples of boring,bland and unimaginative. I would argue the use of the term "Interior designed" It comes down to style and taste which is diverse and individual. Displaying the architectural elements to their fullest. In short, it takes.. Thank you all - it's so useful to get your different perspectives and ideas, and I really appreciate the time you've taken to put together plans / suggestions. Jonathan, I like the idea of a recessed cupboard (didn't know you could get those) and will investigate for over the sink, although my husband is keen on a demisting mirror there. All the cabinets I've seen that incorporate demisting mirrors have got a ridiculous number of other bells and whistles (lights etc, even sound systems!!) which I really don't want/need. So I'd thought we would go for a big demisting mirror over the sink and accommodate the shaver socket elsewhere, perhaps cutting it into the back of a 'normal' cabinet. Do you think it would look odd to have a wall mounted cabinet like this http://www.wireworks.co.uk/natural-oak/9/ to the left of the door as you come in (on the other side from the towel rail)? It's very shallow so wouldn't impede sight lines out of the window too much, but I worry it would look oddly suspended in midair! The built shower wall is a good idea (and neatly resolves the loo roll holder dilemma) but I think we probably want to stick to a glass screen as the view is good (our house is on a hill in London and we can see pretty far towards Kent). So more prosaically, AJ, what would you do with the loo roll holder?!! Put it to one side of the loo on the back wall and accept some contortionist moves would be needed? Love the Watermark collection taps. We were planning to go for the 1200mm duravit Vero trough basin with two mixer taps, but will investigate if these taps could be compatible. Is it normally more expensive / more difficult to get wall mounted taps installed? Thanks for the vote of confidence for freestanding furniture. I think instinctively that's what I want to do - just know it will be harder to find exactly what we need for the space!

You need a 'spur' - an electrical source. You can take it from the light switch or one of the ceiling lights. If you come off the ceiling light then you can feed the wire across the ceiling and then channel it down the wall. You need an electrician to do this. You then fill the channel in the wall that you've made and hey presto you have electric where you need it.
